That Andy Sachs’ outfit was in dire need of a makeover is something that Anne Hathaway is in agreement with.

As part of the interview series “Scene Selection” that is published by Vanity Fair, the Oscar winner, who is 41 years old, reflected on her most famous films, one of which is The Devil Wears Prada, which also stars Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt. And as she was doing that, she had a good time thinking back on the legendary costumes that were worn in the movie.

When she was viewing the moment in which her character Andy, who was dressed in a dowdy garment, first met the glam “Runway” editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, who was portrayed by Meryl Streep, she made a joke about her clothing and exclaimed, “Just look at my wonderful costume.”

In addition, she recalled that the corduroy jacket “felt like the right choice,” but the “bruised lilac” sweater was not the most “flattering.” “I know the costumes wind up becoming more glamorous,” she said, “but I have to say that is post-grad frump gorgeousness,” she said.

The moment that Meryl Streep appeared on the screen, Hathaway let out a gasp and had to stop the video in order to take in the actress’ makeup and outfit.

“Take a look at that wig. “Oh my god, [it was done by] J. Roy Helland, who is the next level at his craft,” she added in reference to Streep’s metamorphosis into the boss of the “Runway” video game.

Additionally, Hathaway went on to describe how she idolized her iconic co-star while they were shooting. “When Meryl initially went onto that set, I was there, and I saw the manner in which she not only accepted the work of our production designer, but also shaped it into something that seemed more like how she envisioned the character. Being in her presence made me feel like a sponge, and I wanted to take in all that she did.

Although Hathaway admitted that she hadn’t watched The Devil Wears Prada in nearly twenty years (the classic is turning eighteen this June), she told Vanity Fair that the dramatization, which was directed by Daniel Frankel and released in 2006, had a “magnetic quality” to it that immediately drew her to it. This was despite the fact that she had no idea that it was going to leave “such a legacy” on popular culture.

A short while ago, Hathaway, Streep, and Blunt got back together on the stage of the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards to present the award best male performer in a comedy series.

The three moved effortlessly into their roles as if no time had gone, and they were also dressed appropriately for the part. Blunt looked absolutely stunning in a red Louis Vuitton gown that her character, Emily Charlton, would be proud of. Hathaway, on the other hand, donned a Versace design in a cerulean blue color, which was a reference to the classic moment in which Miranda reprimands Andy for her lack of sophistication in terms of her fashion sense. It was only appropriate that Streep wear a Prada dress that was sheer and maroon in color, with a train and dazzling decorations.
