At the age of 28, Korey Cunningham, a former offensive lineman for the New York Giants, was discovered passed at his house, according to the confirmation provided by PEOPLE.

On April 25, shortly before 3:30 p.m. local time, police and emergency personnel responded to the residence of Cunningham in Clifton, New Jersey, in response to complaints that a man was unconscious, as reported by a local media company known as RLS Media.

According to RLS Media, officials discovered Cunningham when they arrived at the location. They then informed the medical examiner, and his corpse was transported to a nearby hospital.

PEOPLE has been informed by the Clifton Police Department that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Cunningham’s loss is still ongoing; however, they have acknowledged that his passing was not the result of any kind of criminal activity.

After hearing the news of Cunningham’s passing, the New York Giants issued a statement that was distributed on X, which was formerly known as Twitter.

The news of Korey Cunningham’s demise has left us speechless and inconsolable. In the locker room, he played a significant role in fostering a sense of solidarity and brotherhood. Our prayers are with Korey’s family, friends, and teammates at this difficult time.

The news of Cunningham’s passing was shared on social media by a number of his former colleagues on the Giants. Justin Pugh, among others who commented, said that Cunningham would continue to attend their meals after he was released from the club.

“We would invite him to the OL dinner every week even though he wasn’t on the team which doesn’t happen … ever,” Pugh wrote in an article for X. The only people who are allowed to attend team meals are the players on the squad. The one exception to this rule was Korey, who was adored by every single one of the men, regardless of whether or not you knew him. The tales that he told would make us laugh till the wee hours of the morning.

Even though this is a sad day, I will never forget the happy moments and the laughter that we had. Everyone who had the opportunity to know Korey Cunnigham benefited from it. The world has suffered the loss of a magnificent spirit.

Security The following was contributed by Jason Pinnock to his Instagram Story: “This one stung! No matter what you were going through, you always managed to maintain the most beautiful grin! At the time when I was settling in at New York City, you were the first one to come and assist me with moving. During the middle of camp, you were the first person to arrive at my home completely prepared to join the squad and study the new playbook. Please take care of yourself and get in touch with your pals. Dear brudda, I adore you!

After being selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the seventh round of the NFL draft in 2018, Cunningham went on to play for the New England Patriots and, in 2021, the New York Giants.
