They both passed away not long after each other.
The wife of the late Boston Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield has passed away just a few months after her husband. She was 53 years old.
In a statement shared Wednesday on behalf of Stacy’s family, the Red Sox said that the mother of two had been sick before she passed away, but the sickness had not been made public.
She was our loving mother, daughter, sister, niece, and aunt. We are very sad to say that she passed away today at her home in Massachusetts. “She was with her family, close friends, and the wonderful people who cared for her and nursed her,” the statement says. We can’t believe the loss, especially since we lost Tim not long ago (five months). Our hearts are truly broken.”
Tim was a famous knuckleball player who played for, worked as a special assistant for, and aired for the Red Sox for 29 years. He won two World Series wins with the team in 2004 and 2007. On October 1, 2023, it was said that he had passed away. He was 57 years old.
“Stacy was a strong, loving, thoughtful, kind, and down-to-earth person who we will remember.” “We are so grateful to have had her in our lives, and it gives us peace of mind that she will be with Tim, the love of her life,” the statement says. “We want to thank all of Stacy’s doctors, nurses, and caregivers who helped her from the time she was diagnosed until now. We will always be grateful for your unwavering care and support.” Thank you so much to everyone who has sent us well wishes over the last few months.
At the end of the message, the family asks for quiet while they “process this profound loss.”
Trevor and Brianna, Stacy and Tim’s two teenage children, will miss her.
People knew them for their charity work, like with the Red Sox Foundation, where Tim was the honored head. WCVB 5, an ABC news station in Boston, says that the Wakefields also worked with the Jimmy Fund, a charity for kids with cancer, and visited kids with cancer at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Franciscan Children’s Hospital.
