Candace Cameron Bure is still supporting her Full House co-star Dave Coulier as he continues to undergo treatment for cancer.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the 32nd Annual Movieguide Awards on Friday, February 7, the 48-year-old actress said that she often checks in with Dave, who is 65 years old, after he was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in October 2024.
Cameron Bure stated, “I talk to Dave a lot, and he’s still on his journey and doing okay.” “We will find out how he is feeling in the next couple of months after he finishes his rounds of chemotherapy.”
The Fuller House actor went on to say that she personally checks in on him with “phone calls,” during which they exchange laughs and reminisce about the tight relationship between their two Full House characters, D.J. Tanner and Joey Gladstone.
She went on to say, “That’s the most anyone can do.” “Friends are there to tell each other how much they love one another, and you do that.” You are there for others, whether it is to listen to them or to offer them words of comfort and support.
In November 2024, Dave disclosed his cancer diagnosis during an interview with PEOPLE. He said that he found out about his condition after he had an upper respiratory infection that produced significant enlargement in his lymph nodes.
He said, “Three days later, my doctors called me back and they said, ‘We wish we had better news for you, but you have non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and it’s called B cell and it’s very aggressive.'”
Melissa Coulier, Dave’s wife, provided WXYZ with an honest report on her husband’s condition last month. She said, “He has some really tough days, and as the chemo has been accumulating it gets a little tougher and more difficult.”
The wellness teacher, on the other hand, said that the comedian has been able to maintain a positive attitude by using comedy, which has been beneficial to him on the more difficult days.
Melissa stated, “He has such a positive attitude, and you need that in order to really fight it.” “We try to put on a song and have a little dance party with the dogs every morning, if he feels up to it, because you have to celebrate when you feel good.”
She also mentioned to the publication that “everyone is really rallying around” Dave, and pointed out that he draws a lot of his strength from his family members who have gone through similar experiences.
“I believe that it is simply a part of his nature.” He has experienced a lot of loss in his life due to having to battle with cancer. His mother, sister, and niece all passed away. She mentioned that his other sister had it. “I believe that he draws strength from the women who were close to him in his life, and he wants to honor them by pushing through every step of the way.”
