Tony Roberts, who is well-known for his roles in several Woody Allen films, has passed away.
Nicole Burley, the daughter of the renowned actor, informed the New York Times that her father passed away on Friday due to symptoms from lung cancer.
Tony’s most significant part was in the film “Annie Hall.” In the movie, his character was Woody’s closest buddy. The film received many Academy Awards, including closest Picture.
Tony also appears in other Woody Allen films, such as “A Midsummer Night’s Sex Comedy,” “Stardust Memories,” “Hannah and Her Sisters,” and “Radio Days.”
Tony also has a great career on Broadway … with his work garnering him two Tony nominations, one for best actor in a musical in 1968’s “How Now, Dow Jones” and another for featured actor in a play in Woody’s 1986 play “Play It Again, Sam.”
In 1966, Roberts made his debut in a Woody Allen theatrical play when he was cast in “Don’t Drink The Water.” His first experience in film came in 1971 when he appeared in the Disney comedy “The Million Dollar Duck.”
Tony was in a 2017 made-for-TV adaptation of “Dirty Dancing,” and he also starred in an episode of “Law & Order” that aired in 2010.
