Roseanne Barr wants to return to television.
The 72-year-old actress, who was let go from her namesake ABC sitcom in 2018, is looking to go back on television with a new comedy series that she has developed with Allan Stephan, who produced Roseanne.
She told Variety that her most recent project would consist of four to six episodes and is best characterized as “a cross between The Roseanne Show and The Sopranos.” It has been stated that the new series would follow an Alabama farmer who is “saving the United States from drug gangs and China.” However, he also produces and sells narcotics such as cannabis and hallucinogenic mushrooms.
“It’s silly and out there. Barr added, “It will contain a lot of swearing and very offensive ideas.” I live on a farm with my daughter, her husband, and their six children. They have goats roaming about their home and other things. It is based on my experiences as a farmer in Hawaii.
“They save America with firearms, the Bible, minor criminal activity, and alcohol abuse.” She went on to say that the new series would have a family that is comparable to the Conners from Roseanne, and that it is something like the Coen brothers’ stuff.
In 2018, Barr was dismissed from Roseanne by ABC after she sent a tweet that has since been removed, in which she compared Valerie Jarrett, who was an assistant to former President Barack Obama, to a “ape.” After that, she said that she was unaware that Jarrett was Black and that she was on Ambien when she tweeted the comment.

Channing Dungey, who was the president of ABC Entertainment at the time, made a statement addressing the matter.
He stated, “We have made the decision to cancel her show because Roseanne’s statement on Twitter is disgusting, revolting, and does not align with our values.”
Barr informed the publication that she was pitching the series to many networks, but when asked whether she would come back to ABC if they were interested in producing the program, she responded with a firm, “F— no.”
She remarked, “I don’t give an f— either way,” even though she is uncertain if another network would take it up.
She said, “I would like to be paid a lot of money to bring another s— f—ing network back from doom, just like I did for ABC two times.” “However, I can’t see how they would stay out of my affairs. We will find out. If that is not the case, I will just go someplace else and publish it on my own website.
The actress also said that she thinks the American people is looking for more conservative storylines on television, which is different from the fare that Hollywood has produced in recent years.
Barr said, “Hollywood has made itself irrelevant to the American people.” “They should cooperate with the new president, Donald Trump, if they want to stay alive.” He was chosen by the American people in a landslide win.
She said, “They ought to reach out to [them] again and make some money, but I don’t know if they do that or not because they have shown that they are ideologues instead of [business people].” “The fact that they would rather lose money and then have to explain that to the shareholders, who seem to be okay with it, is what surprises me.”
