There are instances when our mothers and us do not get along very well. It’s true that not everyone has a mother that is really loving and caring, and that’s the situation with our topic today. The frustrating connection that a woman has with her mother was discussed on Reddit by a lady. On the other hand, there is a catch: her mother was given a taste of her own medicine at a time when she was least expecting it.

Recently, a lady posted a tale in one of the Reddit forums that caused members to experience a wide spectrum of feelings ranging from anger to sadness. To begin, she said that her mother has always been a bad presence in her life. She went on to say that she has always felt this way. “She was literally cancer the entire 21 years that I lived at home,” the lady continued to explain as she continued to relate her feelings and experiences.
She continued on to go into more detail about her very tumultuous existence with her closest friend, who was the one who gave her life. The following is an excerpt from her letter: “She made my life a living hell, and as a result of her, I ended up being so depressed and stressed out a lot, I was a little overweight, and she always made fun of me for it.” When I was younger, I struggled with low self-esteem and depression, which made it impossible for me to consistently maintain a work. However, I was continually referred to as lazy.
After then, the most significant event in the woman’s life had place, and she was able to take a deep breath. As she stated, “When I was 21 years old, I moved out of my parents’ house, I stayed with friends, I worked on improving both my mental and physical health, and I found a decent job for myself.”
Her sense of self-worth has substantially improved at this point. The following is what she has to say about her current state of mind: “Four years later, I have a wonderful friend circle and a boyfriend who is completely supportive of me in any way.”
When she learned of her mother’s inappropriate conduct, she was unable to keep her emotions in check.
She continues her story by saying, “I have not spoken to my mother in the past four years, and there are some members of my family that I do not communicate with either. One of the reasons for this is that they have always taken my mother’s side and believed her. She made me out to be this demon child, but she had no idea how I could be as horrible as I was.”
The individual in question has a deep connection with select members of her family who are there for her through anything. She said, “I only speak to my grandparents, who witnessed some things she did to me months before I moved and cut her off because they didn’t want to get into any drama in the family anyway.” She says that she only communicates with her grandparents. I also maintained communication with a cousin who was there at this event when we were younger and who was a witness to it.
On the other hand, the lady claims that her mother’s lies were completely absurd. “Throughout those four years, my mother continued to lie about me, I continued to put on weight, I had no job, I was homeless, I attempted to break into her home multiple times, I had offended her, and so on,” she said in her letter.
One day, as the family was getting together, emotions began to rise, and things became more difficult.
After that, the lady went on to explain that there was a recent family occurrence that she will never forget, and was also a lesson that her mother learned that was very beneficial to her. She stated, “However, just a month ago, my grandfather reached out to me and informed me that he had heard what my mother had been saying. He also informed me that they were going to hold a virtual family reunion in January, and that I ought to participate in order to disprove everyone’s assumptions.”
She continues by saying, “My cousin also told me to sit somewhere in my house where my boyfriend would be because it seems that I still haven’t been able to find a boyfriend.”
As the big day finally came, the lady is overcome with a range of feelings as she thinks back on it. I was five minutes late on purpose, and the sight on people’s faces was funny. That’s when people began asking my mother, and my mother disregarded every inquiry and made up the explanation that I’d had some ‘work’ done. She put this in her letter.
Immediately, the encounter began to take place. “That’s when I said no, this has been me for three years, all the news you were getting on me was from the woman, who, like a lot of you, I haven’t spoken to you in years, this woman lied, she has degraded me my whole life, and she still does it, because that’s all she can do with her life,” the woman recalls how she responded to the news.
She went on to say, “That’s when my boyfriend walked into the kitchen, and everyone freaked out even more when I told them that he was my boyfriend, and he gave a friendly wave in the background.” “My mother was giving me the death stare,” I said.
She divulged the following information: “People started questioning my mother once more, she didn’t answer anyone, and then she said, ‘I don’t need to answer anyone’ before she left on her end.”
The lesson was presented with a great deal of discomfort on the part of the mother. “Later on, I found out from my cousin who heard from her mom that my mother had a full-on meltdown because I dared to sit in there and be all smug, and how I should have stayed away because now there are problems within the family, and it’s my fault,” the lady stated. “It’s my fault that there are problems within the family.”
