Once again, Flavor Flav has shown his support for the United States of America at the Summer Olympics. On the other hand, he is keeping a close eye on a certain athlete this time around.

Veronica Fraley, a track and field athlete who is participating for the United States in discus throw on Friday, announced with X (previously Twitter) that she was unable to pay the remaining balance of her rent. On Thursday, August 1, the 65-year-old rapper known as Public Enemy made a commitment to financially support Fraley by paying the remaining balance of her rent.

Fraley, a student at Vanderbilt University, expressed his frustration by writing, “I am competing in the Olympic Games tomorrow and I am unable to even pay my rent ๐Ÿ˜’.” “My school only sent about 75% of my rent while they pay football players (who havenโ€™t won anything ๐Ÿ˜‚) enough to buy new cars and houses ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿพ.”

Swiftly recognizing the post, Flav, who was already a devoted fan and sponsor of the United States women’s water polo team, immediately took action and began to take action. Before verifying that he had received the cash within an hour, Flav said, “I gotchu,,, DM me and I’ll send payment TODAY so you don’t have to worry about it TOMORROW,,, and imma be rooting for ya tomorrow LETZ GO.” Flav then sent a screenshot to demonstrate that he had accomplished his goal.

“Man of word,,, and Imma try and come by and support you in person tomorrow ,,, LMK what time,” he said in addition.

Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit and entrepreneur, also contributed to the conversation by providing a receipt of a transaction that he had made to Fraley in response to the article. The transaction was for $7,760. In the next sentence, Flav referred to him as a “absolute hero.” Following the dissemination of information on his endeavors throughout various social media platforms, Flav reiterated in a subsequent tweet that he was a “man of my word.”

“This is what I been saying and promoting with water polo,,, I canโ€™t fix everything on my own,,, but right now I am,” he said in his article.

In an additional post that she made in response to her worries over her rent, Fraley made it clear that her “irritation” was not with her school, but rather with the underlying “rules” that dictated financial assistance. “Thanks for the supporting messages but I want to clarify my irritation isnโ€™t with the school itself, mainly the rules that bar me from making the amount Iโ€™m WORTH as a collegiate athlete such as NIL which favors popularity over performance,” she said in her letter. “That is all I have to say. I wish you the best of luck tonight!

In addition, she uploaded a snapshot of a text message to her Instagram Story, which revealed that she had received $1,294 of the $1,700 that she was supposed to pay for rent this month. After some time had passed, Flav also sent an update, stating that Fraley’s rent had been paid for the full year.

The “Fight the Power” MC had earlier fulfilled his pledge to assist the women’s water polo team in meeting the financial obligations associated with their Olympic preparation, so this was not the first time that Flav had come through for Team USA. As he continues to show his support for the squad in Paris, he has even had the opportunity to rub shoulders with notable individuals such as First Lady Jill Biden.

Flav had previously discussed his choice to sponsor the squad with PEOPLE. He said that he made the decision after learning from the captain, Maggie Steffens, that many of the athletes had to work several jobs in order to make it to the Olympics.

“There’s a lot of women, I’m saying that all they want is just a chance,” Flav said in response. “All they want to do is have the feeling that they have a chance,” she said. To put it simply, I wanted to lend a hand and assist in providing women with the opportunity that they have been searching for.
