Judy Belushi-Pisano, who was recognized for her work on several television shows, including National Lampoon’s Animal House and The Blues Brothers, has passed away. She was the wife of John Belushi and a producer and actor. Her age was 73.

Judy Belushi was remembered for her creative accomplishments throughout the years with her late husband, John Belushi, according to the official Instagram and Facebook accounts for John Belushi, which broke the news on Saturday, July 6. A cause of passing was not disclosed in the statement that was released. According to the Martha’s Vineyard Times, she had been involved in a “long battle” with cancer before to her loss.

This message stated, “Today, our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to our sweet Judy,” and it was written in the statement. “Her unwavering dedication and creative genius alongside Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi gave birth to The Blues Brothers, a timeless testament to the power of music and laughter.”

“In the years following John’s passing in 1982, Judy honored his life and championed his legacy and the Blues Brothers brand,” according to the subsequent statement. “As we bid farewell, we pledge to continue her work, ensuring that John’s legacy, and the Blues Brothers will never fade.”

One further thing that was mentioned in the statement was that “there was no one like [Judy].”

Simply being able to be who you actually are in her presence was a gift in and of itself. “Your love will live on in the hearts of the Belushi and Pisano families for all of eternity,” the message said.

John’s Facebook page included a number of photographs that featured Judy and John over the years, as well as a subsequent one of her standing with a guitar slung around her neck. These photographs were posted with the tribute from John.

On Instagram, Stephen Bishop, a friend and musician who had a role in The Blues Brothers and provided music to Animal House, posted his own homage to the deceased pair, along with a picture of himself with the couple.

“The time I spent working and hanging out with Judy and John is one that I will always cherish. She never failed to treat me with kindness and maintained contact with me throughout the years. I had a wonderful time catching up with her at Animal House reunions,” he added. “The recollections I have of her are saturated with feelings of fondness and warmth. For all time, I will hold them dear.

After meeting each other in Wheaton, Illinois, during their high school years, Judy and John went on to be married in 1976. During an interview with PEOPLE in the year 2020, she discussed her late husband in advance of the Belushi documentary that was shown on Showtime. She said that he had advised her that she “should probably break up with me because I want to be an actor and I’ll probably never make any money.”

She said at the time, “But I always thought he’d do well,” and she was right.
