Throughout the whole of the first season of the Netflix spinoff, both Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, Kunis’s husband, appeared in various episodes.
In spite of the fantastic reception that That ’90s Show, Netflix’s spinoff of That ’70s Show, received from its audience, Mila Kunis will not be returning for the second season, as was originally stated.
Cassie DiLaura of ET reports that Kunis, who made an appearance in the first season, has informed her that she will not be returning to her part for the second season.
Kunis said, “I mean, we did our thing and they introduced our son in the show and that was, you know, [enough],” when she was questioned about the spinoff series during the 25th anniversary celebration for Family Guy that took place at Paleyfest.
Leia (Callie Haverda), the daughter of Eric and Donna, and Jay (Mace Coronel), the son of Kelso and Jackie, are the protagonists of the series that was created by Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner. The series follows Leia and Jay, along with their diverse group of friends, including Gwen (Ashley Aufderheide), Nate (Maxwell Donovan), Nikki (Sam Morelos), and Ozzie (Reyn Doi), as they spend the summer creating brand new and hilarious memories. This is much to the chagrin of Red, who is not pleased to have children living in his house once more.

There are glimpses of the previous generation of teenagers, all grown up and dealing with their own issues, in the trailer. These include Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon) learning how to parent a teenage daughter, Fez (Wilmer Valderrama) managing a hair salon, and Kelso (Ashton Kutcher) and Jackie (Kunis) living the corporate life. In addition, the trailer teases what is in store for the next generation of teenagers.
Due to the fact that Kutcher and Kunis moved from having a romantic relationship on television to really being married and having two children, that show from the 1970s had a unique meaning for them.
Kutcher and Grace discussed the possibility of reconnecting with all of their co-stars for the spinoff in an interview with Entertainment Tonight (ET) before to the series’ release on Netflix. “At the same time, it’s somewhat strange. Kutcher said that it was both quite bizarre and extremely nostalgic. “Just coming back inside the set was strange, and getting down into the basement was more worse. What’s more, being in the same room as everyone else is plain strange.
When you were able to see your whole family, it was just like coming home for Christmas. In every way, it was just like Christmas. This was a present. They are all such incredible, incredible individuals who have had such a significant impact on my life and the person that I have become,” Grace said. “It was wonderful to be able to go back and not just hang out with them together, which was a lot of fun, but then to be able to work with them again. It was a wonderful experience.” And I can’t wait for my friends and family to see it.
At the premiere in Los Angeles in January 2023, ET had the opportunity to speak with Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp. During the course of the conversation, the two individuals discussed the process of reuniting them all for the new series and returning to the set where they had previously worked.
“I think [the same thing] happened with everybody on the old cast — we call them the legacy cast — it’s just like a lot of photos, a lot of memories,” said Rupp in response. “So many memories (all at once), it was almost overwhelming.”
Smith said that “it’s wild” to watch Kutcher and Kunis transition from being co-stars to parents. This was in reference to the fact that Kutcher and Kunis are really married.
“I mean, they are the most beautiful couple I have ever seen in my life,” Rupp concluded by saying. “They are just stunning and wonderful individuals. Such lovely individuals.”
Smith exclaimed, “I couldn’t have predicted it, but at the same time it didn’t surprise me,” in reference to the sweet relationship that they had. “Oh, okay, yeah,” I thought to myself. This makes perfect sense.
After all those years, in May of 2006, That ’70s Show was taken off the air, and after all those years, Rupp noted that it took Kunis some time to regain the voice and mannerisms of her character, Jackie Burkhart.
Rupp remembered in his memory that “Mila had to find Jackie again.” It was necessary for her to make a few trips there in order to get back into the Jackie mood since it is so unlike to who she is at the moment.
When it comes to television, Kunis has made it a practice to appear in series that children sneak around to watch. The mother of two has been providing the voice for the character of Meg Griffin on the bawdy family comedy Family Guy since 1999. This is in contrast to the fact that That’s ’70s Show portrayed teenagers often engaging in sexual activity in the basements of their friends’ houses.
The celebrity quipped that being on such a program is a “badge of honor” when chatting with ET at Paleyfest. However, she was quick to point out that her daughter Wyatt, who is ten years old, is not permitted to watch the animated series.
Although Kunis acknowledges that “Everything about Family Guy is offensive,” she is unable to deny that the sitcom has some of the most legendary comedic moments. I’m going to be in trouble for this one, but the Dumpster Babies are one of my favorite amusing moments. Oh my gosh, I’m going to get in trouble for this one. It’s very screwed up. The question is, “How do you explain that to a child’s age?”
During their conversation, she and her co-star Seth Green came to the conclusion that her children may begin watching when they are about “12 or 13.” Perhaps.
