A family in Canada is looking for the corpse of their loved one after receiving the incorrect remains in a coffin, as reported by several publications. The family is seeking for the body of their loved one.
Daily Guardian, Associated Press, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) all reported that Montreal resident Faraj Jarjour, who was 68 years old at the time of his loss, passed away while on holiday in Cuba with his daughter Miriam Jarjour.
Miriam disclosed to the Associated Press that on March 22, she was swimming with her father in the vicinity of Varadero, Cuba, when he suddenly had a heart attack and passed away. After then, his corpse was covered and placed on a beach chair for more than eight hours until the authorities picked up his remains and transported them to Havana.
However, according to the publications, the family said that they spent an extra $15,000 ($10,900) for the funeral in addition to the $10,000 Canadian ($7,300) that they paid to repatriate his corpse back to Canada. On the other hand, they assert that the bones that were found in the coffin that had been brought back from Cuba were not those of Faraj but rather those of another individual.
The family was shown a photograph of the lost guy inside the coffin by a funeral facility in Montreal, Canada. According to the reports, the deceased man seemed to be twenty years younger than Faraj, had a full head of hair, and was covered in tattoos.
“We are sad because my father passed away,” Karam Jarjour, Faraj’s son, said in an interview with the Daily Guardian. “However, we are even more depressed because my father is somewhere that we do not know.”
Miriam said that the corpse of the stranger was sent to his own nation in Russia. She also mentioned that her family has been sending emails to government officials in an effort to establish contact with Cuban authorities and bring her father’s remains to Canada. On the other hand, the family’s efforts have not been successful up until this point.
“In all honesty, I’m destroyed,” she said to the Associated Press. So far, we have not been able to find any solutions… Where can I find my father?

Global Affairs Canada issued a statement explaining that it was “aware of the loss of a Canadian citizen in Cuba” and that “our thoughts are with the friends and family of the deceased in these difficult circumstances.” The message was shared with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and the Daily Guardian.
The report went on to say that “consular officials are engaged with Cuban authorities and in contact with the family to provide consular assistance.” It went on to say that more details could not be provided due to “privacy reasons.”
There has also been communication with the authorities from the Urgel Bourgie funeral home, which was the location where Faraj’s funeral was scheduled to take place. CBC was informed by Patrice Chavegros, who serves as the vice president of marketing for the funeral organization. Due to the fact that you have two families, this is the sad aspect of the situation. One in Montreal and one in another nation, both of whom are unable to complete their grief processes while they are in their respective locations.
As for Miriam, she said to the Associated Press that her family would not give up until the remains of her father are returned to Canada with his loved ones at their side. “I want someone to assist me in locating my father,” she said. “I want to find him.”
