Eleven months after Aja Volkman filed for divorce in April 2023, the divorce between Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds and Aja Volkman has been completed.
The divorce processes were concluded on Monday, and the former couple, who had tied the knot on March 5, 2011, claimed “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation, according to court records that were acquired by PEOPLE.
Arrow Eve, who is 11 years old, Gia James and Coco Rae, who are both 6 years old, and Valentine, who is 4 years old, are the four children that Reynolds, who is 36 years old, and the Nico Vega singer, who is 43 years old, will have shared legal and physical custody of.
According to the records filed with the court, the former spouses “also entered into a further judgement with confidential information” about child support, spousal support, property division, attorney fees and charges, and other matters.
According to the records, the Grammy winner and Volkman chose August 8, 2022 as the day on which they would end their relationship. A month later, they made the announcement to the public that they had separated.
In response to a request for comment made by PEOPLE, representatives for Reynolds and Volkman did not immediately answer.
According to records that were acquired by PEOPLE at the time, the former couple reached a divorce settlement in February and entered into an agreement on property and child custody. The agreement also included a request for the decision of the court to be executed. The deal also included Volkman’s request to the court to discontinue the spousal support that was being provided to the “Radioactive” artist.
One day after Volkman filed for dissolution of marriage in April 2023, she posted a long message on Instagram about how the split “marked a pretty big transition in our lives,” stressing that it had been a painful move. She continued by saying that the divorce had been a difficult transition.
“Navigating being in a public space while going through all of the things we have been through this year has been hard for both Dan and I,” she said in her letter.
“There is nothing to be said about the fairness of that because we both chose to be on a stage as our career path, so it certainly comes with the territory,” said the musician’s statement. On the other hand, I have never discussed the specifics of our marriage, separation, or divorce. I do not plan to do so.”
After that, Volkman professed her affection for their four “amazing children” and reminded her followers not to “create a witch-hunt out of the unknown.”

In September of 2022, Reynolds made the announcement of the separation via X, which was once known as Twitter. “I am saddened to say that after many beautiful years together, Aja and I have separated,” he said on the site. “It is with great regret that I share this report.”
