In the near future, Shondaland will welcome Shonda Rhimes’ daughter.
The Emmy nominee, who is 54 years old, revealed on Tuesday that one of her kids has been watching Grey’s Anatomy for the very first time. She did so by posting a sweet snapshot of the two of them on Instagram. During the time that her daughter was eating a bowl of spaghetti, she used her iPad to watch an episode of the television series that included twenty seasons.
“My not so tiny human started watching @greysabc for the first time yesterday,” Rhimes said in the caption of the photo. It is my brain that is crumbling. 🤯 I have passed away. DECREASED. However, I am overjoyed that she will get the opportunity to meet the ladies who her mother fashioned.
Rhimes is the mother of three female children: Emerson Pearl, who is 11 years old and whom she adopted in 2012; Beckett, who is 10 years old and whom she welcomed via surrogacy in 2013; and Harper, who is 21 years old and whom she adopted in 2002.
During an interview with WSJ Magazine in the year 2022, the producer said that her three kids had “never seen” the medical drama that was shown on ABC.
At the time of Emerson and Beckett, Rhimes said, “My youngest daughters are 8 and 9 years old, so they are far too young to watch it or even care about it, which is a good thing.”
In addition, her elder daughter Harper is not a fan of the program, but her friends have seen it in its entirety on more than one occasion.
The fact that I have created a play that all of her friends have watched numerous times is something that my daughter, who is 19 years old, finds to be really disturbing. She has never witnessed it, as a result. According to Rhimes, “I have to say that I believe that might be the best compliment that has ever been given.”
When I think about it, I imagine that her mother has written a performance in which she tells all of her friends her thoughts on love and sexuality. Therefore, she does not have any interest in viewing it, and I believe that this is a really positive development,” the mother of three children said.
