When the bespectacled Jenny Darren, who was 68 years old at the time, appeared on the stage of “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2018, the judges were in for a significant shock.
Instead of performing a ballad, Darren went back to her origins and sang “Highway to Hell” by AC/DC. Both the panel and the presenters, as well as the crowd, were completely blown away by her performance.
The fortunate thing is that when she made her victorious comeback to the world of rock, the whole world was able to watch it in a video that has gone viral on the internet, with over 11 million views.
The mature singer made her debut on the stage of “Britains Got Talent” while wearing a cardigan that was zipped up and appearing like the classic grandmother that we all know and love. When she removed the buttons off her cardigan and changed into a black leather rocker suit, everyone was in for a rude awakening.
As she started her performance, the whole crowd, including the judges Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, David Walliams, and Simon Cowell, dropped to such a state of silence that it would have been possible to hear a pin drop in the audience.
Despite the fact that many members of the crowd were probably anticipating something more subdued, they watched with a sense of excitement when she started singing the popular song “Highway to Hell” by AC/DC in a rocker style.
A standing ovation was given to the vocalist by the crowd when they had finished seeing her performance live.
By the time she was only 12 years old, Jenny Darren had already developed a passion for singing and had been listening to musical legends such as Jimmy Page. According to The Radio Times, she has published four albums of her own, one of which features Nicko McBrian, the drummer for Iron Maiden. She has also performed backing vocals for AC/DC at one time in her life.
Following her retirement, the resident of Birmingham made the decision that it was time to return to the activities that had brought her so much joy in the past.
