This year, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are commemorating 35 years of marriage together.
Bacon, who is 65 years old, uploaded an old picture of himself and Sedgwick, who is 58 years old, on Instagram on Monday. In the shot, the two of them can be seen sitting close together on a chair. While Sedgwick is looking at the camera and smiling, Bacon can be seen putting a kiss on top of her head.
“It seems like 35 years has gone by in the blink of an eye. The actor from Footloose put “#Anniversary” in the description of his photo.
In the comments section, Bacon and Sedgwick’s renowned friends congratulated the pair on achieving the milestone of ten years of marriage. Rita Wilson was one of those friends, and she wrote, “You guys! Best wishes on your anniversary! Do you really think that? It passes by so quickly! We will be 36 years old very soon!”
In addition, Sedgwick posted an old picture from her personal archive on Instagram with the caption, “It was 1987—on the set of ‘Lemon Sky’—I met a man named Kevin.” To the age of 35, my love!
Bacon and Sedgwick first crossed paths in 1987 while working together on the production of the PBS film Lemon Sky. They announced their engagement before the end of the same year. The pair tied the knot on September 4, 1988, and they are the proud parents of two children: Travis, who is 34, and Sosie, who is 31.
“I was knocked out,” Bacon told PEOPLE in March of his first encounter with Sedgwick. “I thought she was incredible,” you said.
Although Sedgwick claims that she was not as quickly captivated by Bacon as he was, the actress claims that she knew the day after their first date that he was the one she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.
“I remember waking up and going, ‘I feel like home,’ ” she said. “I feel like home.” “I suddenly realized, ‘Oh, that was him.’
Over the course of their relationship, the two have even collaborated on artistic projects, the most recent of which was when Sedgwick directed Bacon in the film Space Oddity. In March, Sedgwick said that one of the things that makes their marriage work is the fact that they both like making the other person laugh.
She emphasized the importance of having a good sense of humor. “He is so freaking funny,” said one person.
“To me, walking down the street together just shooting the s— in the middle of the night still feels like a nice place to be,” Bacon said of having leisure with Sedgwick. “To me, it still feels like a nice place to be.”
Bacon and Sedgwick have been outspoken in their support of the continuing strike by Hollywood actors in recent months. The pair made an appearance at a picket line in New York City in July, not long after SAG-AFTRA went on strike on the 13th of that month.
