Monday at the Venice Film Festival, Priscilla Presley was the focus of most of the attention that was paid there.

Priscilla Presley, the matriarch of the Presley family, looked to get upset after seeing Sofia Coppola’s new film Priscilla, which is a biopic based on Presley’s 1985 book Elvis and Me. The global premiere of the film took place in Venice, and Presley, who is 78 years old, was there.

Alex Ritman of The Hollywood Reporter posted a video on Twitter, which is now known as X, that showed Presley wiping tears from her eyes as the crowd cheered her, 52-year-old Coppola, and the film’s actors Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi, who play Priscilla and Elvis Presley, respectively. (Because the SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement required that the production take place in Canada with a non-AMPTP company, the SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement was issued for the A24 picture during the strike.)

It was possible to observe Coppola give Presley a hug as Spaeny, 25, and Elordi, 26, watched on in the background. According to Variety, the crowd at the film screening in Venice gave the production a standing ovation that lasted for a total of seven minutes.

In addition, Presley showed signs of emotion when she attended a press conference for the film earlier in the day. She referred to Elvis as “the love of my life” despite the fact that she was discussing her choice to divorce the legend in 1972.

“It’s very difficult to sit down and watch a film about you, about your life, and about your love,” she told the reporters. “It’s very difficult.” “I believe that Sofia did an outstanding job, since she completed all of her assignments. We spoke on the phone a few times, and I shared with her all that I knew about the situation at the time.

At the press conference, Priscilla did not originally appear at the stage with Coppola, Spaeny, and Elordi; nevertheless, she seized the microphone when she was asked about the portions of the film that impacted her the most.

“The way of life was the primary source of my challenges, and I believe it is something to which any woman can identify. However, it did not negatively impact our connection. Priscilla reflected on how she and Elvis, who passed away in 1977 at the age of 42, managed their relationship after the divorce. “We still remained very close,” she said.

“And of course, we were blessed with a daughter, and I made it a point to ensure that he was always able to spend time with her. It felt as if we had never parted ways,” she went on to say.

The film Priscilla, which is directed by Baz Luhrmann and stars Austin Butler as Priscilla Presley and portrays the tale of Elvis Presley and Priscilla’s love story and marriage from Priscilla’s point of view, was released one year after Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis film, which was a commercial hit and starred Austin Butler in the starring role as the renowned artist. In the film, Olivia DeJonge portrayed the character of Priscilla.

An official summary for the film Priscilla released by A24 reads as follows: “When teenage Priscilla Beaulieu meets Elvis Presley at a party, the man who is already a meteoric rock-and-roll superstar becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments: a thrilling crush, an ally in loneliness, and a vulnerable best friend.” Elvis Presley was a rock and roll superstar at the time Priscilla met him at the party.

“Through Priscilla’s eyes, Sofia Coppola tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla’s long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland,” the synopsis for the film reads. “This deeply felt and ravishingly detailed portrait of love, fantasy, and fame.”
On October 27th, Priscilla will be released in cinemas.
