Just over six months after Celine Dion disclosed that she had been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, the singer’s sister, Claudette, is providing an update on the singer’s current state of health.
During an interview with Le Journal de Montréal, Claudette said that their sister, Linda, has relocated into Celine’s house, where she now resides with her three kids René-Charles, Eddy, and Nelson, in order to assist in providing care for Celine.
“When I contact her and she tells me that she’s busy, I talk to my sister Linda who lives with her and she tells me that she’s working really hard. “She is taking in as much information as she can from the leading researchers working in the field of this extremely rare disease,” Claudette said.
Although Celine is exerting a lot of effort in her fight against the uncommon neurological condition, they have not yet discovered a drug that is effective in treating it.
“In all candor, I believe that she needs to sleep the majority of the time. She never stops trying to improve herself and achieve the highest possible level of success in anything she does. At some time, both your heart and your body will want to communicate with you and tell you something important. It’s vital to listen to it,” she said, referring to Celine’s choice to stop performing publicly.
She went on to say that it was intrinsic to her, and that she was disciplined in all aspects of her life. We haven’t been able to locate a treatment that’s effective, but it’s critical to have optimism.
The singer, who is 55 years old, revealed her diagnosis for the first time in December, in an emotional video that she uploaded on Instagram. In the video, she discussed the unusual neurological ailment that cannot be cured.
According to the Mayo Clinic, the condition known as “Stiff Person Syndrome” is “a rare disorder of motor function that is characterized by involuntary stiffness of axial muscles and superimposed painful muscle spasms, which are often induced by startle or emotional stimuli.”
“Hello to all of you, I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to get in touch with you, but please know how much I miss you and how excited I am to finally be able to chat to you in person on stage. Dion started out her statement while dressed in an all-black ensemble. “As you are aware, I have always been a book that can be opened at any page; however, I was not ready to say anything in the past, but I am ready now.”
The singer of “My Heart Will Go On” said that despite the fact that she has discovered the root cause of her health problems, the disease continues to have a significant influence on both her day-to-day life and the way that she performs on stage.
“While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we now know that this is what’s been causing all of the spasms that I’ve been having,” she stated. “Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my day-to-day life, sometimes making it difficult for me to walk, and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m accustomed to,” said the patient.
After making the first statement in December that she would be postponing her European tour, Dion ultimately decided in May to cancel all 42 remaining dates on her Courage World Tour. Dion is a winner of several GRAMMY Awards.
Dion expressed her regret that she had “yet again” let her fans down when she made the formal news through her website and other social media platforms.
“It breaks my heart to have to let each and every one of you down once again. She claimed in a statement that “I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re at 100 percent.” “I’m working really hard to build back my strength.” It is not fair to you to keep delaying the performances, and even though it pains my heart, it is better that we postpone everything now until I’m truly ready to go back on stage again. “It is not fair to you to keep postponing the events. I just want everyone to know that I’m not going to give up… and I can’t wait to see you all again.”
In addition to making efforts to improve her health, Celine Dion has also been working on new songs at this time of her fight against the cancer. In April, she released the song “Love Again” as the first single from the soundtrack of her film of the same name.
When Dion sings in the film about rediscovering hope and giving love another opportunity, which also happens to be the subject of the movie, her voice is stronger than it has ever been.
Dion plays the role of a matchmaker for Priyanka Chopra and Sam Heughan in the romantic comedy that was written and directed by Jim Strouse.
