Rosie O’Donnell has said that growing older is something that she is looking forward to. During the celebration of her 61st birthday on March 21, 2023, the comedienne said that the physical process of aging continues to surprise her, but she is grateful that she is still around to take pleasure in her new position as a grandmother and watch her children make their way through life.

The actress from “The Flinstones” couldn’t help but draw comparisons between her own life and the life of her mother, Roseann Teresa Murtha, who passed away at an early age of 39 and never got to see how her children grew out. O’Donnell used to believe that turning 40 would mark the end of not just her life but also her career. O’Donnel was just ten years old when she lost her mother. She was born on Long Island, in the state of New York. She thought that the tragedy was the defining factor in the direction that she would take the remainder of her life.

The actress adopted her first kid, a boy named Parker Jaren, in 1995 with her companion at the time, a TV producer named Kelli Carpenter. Nonetheless, O’Donnell did not reveal her sexual orientation to the world until the year 2002. With the addition of Parker into their family, O’Donnell and Carpenter went on to adopt two additional children as a couple: Chelsea, who was born in 1997, Blake, who was born in 1999, and Vivienne, who was born in 2002.

After that, the pair tied the knot in San Francisco in 2004, but after spending many happy years together, O’Donnell and Carpenter divorced the following year in 2007. O’Donnel and Carpenter were both parents to their four children despite the challenging circumstances of their lives.

O’Donnell began a romantic relationship with an executive consultant named Michelle Rounds in 2011, and the couple was married the year after that. By 2013, the couple had made public their decision to adopt Dakota, who was then O’Donnell’s sixth child. In spite of this, O’Donnell filed for divorce two years after the couple had been married, and she was awarded sole custody of her youngest child. Rounds committed herself in 2017 at the age of 46, a year after she had remarried. She had a wife and a kid when she passed away suddenly.

On March 21, 2023, O’Donnell celebrated her 61st birthday, and as part of an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, she reminisced on her life up to that point. The actress said that growing older is “absolutely fantastic,” and she even found a way to make light of the subject.

“Sometimes I look in the mirror [or] I catch a glimpse and I go, ‘Oh, there’s an old lady! Oh, no, it’s me,'” O’Donnell said, but she went on to say, “I’m glad I have the opportunity to grow up and to be here for my kids and to get to enjoy life, because of all the immense gifts that I’ve been given.”

O’Donnell also revealed that Parker has left the Marines and is now working as a model maker for the video game “Warhammer,” which was his favorite game when he was a child. In December of 2022, Blake proposed to the woman he had been seeing for a very long time. Viviene is on the dean’s list at her college, and Chelsea, with whom the actress has had public spats in the past, is a mom of three, and O’Donnell could not help but coo over her grandkids. O’Donnell has also been known to have public spats with other people.

“It’s hard to believe, and it’s hard to make me not steal them and just take them home with me and say, ‘You know what? They’re mine now!'”

Once Chelsea made the decision to live with her biological mother, she and O’Donnell did not speak to one other for several years. But in 2018, once Chelsea found out she was expecting her first child, they were able to patch things up and get back together.

O’Donnell has stated that she is starting the third chapter of her life by putting the past behind her and making a lot of memories of growing older via her new podcast, “Onward.” O’Donnell’s youngest daughter, Dakota, has expressed hope that she will one day become a part of her mother’s podcast. O’Donnell has been through a lot in her life, and she has stated that she is putting the past behind her and starting the third chapter of her life. According to Dakota’s mother, despite having autism, Dakota is “extremely vocal.”
