The children of Gedion and Ruth Mbatha, ages 3, 7, and 12, “require as much help as possible,” according to their aunt, who is taking up the responsibility of raising the children following the losses of their parents.

After driving the wrong way on a California motorway, a violent collision resulted in the losses of four individuals, including a mother and father of three children.

According to NBC affiliate KNBC, the California Highway Patrol reported that the accident took place at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday when a white 2021 Volvo S60 and a black 2018 Volvo S90 collided on Highway 71 in Chino Hills while the white vehicle was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the highway.

According to KTTV, an affiliate of FOX, a Toyota from the year 2001, and a Honda from the year 2008, both collided with the white Volvo.

According to a report from an ABC station, soon after the incident, the white Volvo immediately caught fire and was completely consumed by the flames.

In the collision, there were four people lost their lives. KABC reports that a fifth individual was taken to a hospital for treatment of relatively minor injuries.

According to Sergeant Kenneth Phillips of the California Highway Patrol, another CHP sergeant tried to rescue the victims from the flaming car, but “was unsuccessful” in putting out part of the flames with a fire extinguisher. This information was obtained from the media.

According to a GoFundMe page set up for the Mbatha family, among the deceased are Gedion and Ruth Mbatha, who were the parents of three children aged 3, 7, and 12 years old.

Horelia Kuria, Gedion’s sister, said to KABC that the victim’s husband and wife had been out with friends previous to the collision, where they were celebrating Gedion’s birthday.

According to what Kuria told the source about her brother, “He was a kind friend to everyone that knew him and he was a loving brother and he was a caring friend to everyone that knew him.”

“The same may be said about Ruth. Here is where Ruth received her nursing education; she later became a registered nurse “Moreover, she said. “She devoted herself completely to raising her children.”

According to Karla Gibson, who was in charge of organizing the GoFundMe campaign, Kuria is now taking care of Gedion and Ruth’s children.

According to Gibson stated, “many of their family members remain in Kenya,” and “those here will have the burden of caring for and ensuring these youngsters may continue to live their lives with as little disruption as possible.”

The funds raised via the GoFundMe campaign will be used to cover the costs of Gideon and Ruth’s burial, in addition to providing for their surviving children.

Gibson said in his writing that “these youngsters will need as much help as possible in the days, months, and years to come.”
