Former nannies Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis are being sued for wrongful termination, according to the nanny’s lawsuit. The woman, identified as Ericka Genaro, claims that she experienced severe anxiety and stress during their contentious breakup in 2020 because she felt compelled to “pick sides.” Furthermore, she claims that she was abruptly fired from her job after requesting a three-day leave of absence for her mental health. Last year, Genaro made news when she went to the press about reportedly watching Wilde leave Sudeikis for Harry Styles. Her comments led to the publication of many articles.
In 2018, the stars hired Genaro to begin working for them as their live-in nanny to assist with the care of their two young children. According to the complaint that was submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, Genaro began having concerns in November 2020, when Wilde “suddenly” departed the residence. According to Genaro, Sudeikis began placing a greater reliance on the actress for emotional support after her “sudden disappearance,” which led to “an unfavorable result.”
“The topic of these late-night conversations with Sudeikis naturally evolved to speaking about Wilde, which [Genaro] felt compelled to engage in despite the fact that it caused her extreme anxiety because she ostensibly felt that she had to ‘pick sides’ between the parents of the children for whom she was ostensibly the primary caretaker.”
Yahoo Entertainment attempted to get in touch with representatives for both Sudeikis and Wilde but did not get any answers right away.
According to Genaro, “becoming the main carer of the children” and “filling in” for Wilde “became draining” because of the burden they put on her. She claims that when Wilde left the home, her uneasiness over the situation in the family “got close to intolerable.” Genaro was obliged to communicate with the movie director.
The complaint provides specifics on an alleged meeting in which Genaro disclosed to Wilde the strain that she was under as a result of Sudeikis’s “late-night talks.” At the time, Wilde was in Palm Springs, California, working on the production of Don’t Worry Darling. After what seemed to be a private chat, Genaro had what she called a “feeling of relaxation;” but, in December 2020, she discovered that Wilde had shared everything with Sudeikis. According to Genaro, Sudeikis confronted her and then used the knowledge against her in an attempt to win her support for his cause. Genaro’s “worry and tension did not get any better” during the following two months.
“Because of her status within the family dynamic,” Wilde and Sudeikis came to an agreement that they would attend group therapy with Genaro. She went into depth about “her physical discomfort, worry, and tension” with the assistance of her therapist. In February of 2021, Genaro reportedly conveyed to Sudeikis that she would no longer be able to serve as the family’s nanny, but that she would remain on the job for up to five months in order to ensure a smooth handoff to the new caregiver. It was at this time that Genaro’s therapist introduced her to an osteopath. The osteopath suggested that she take a three-day break from speaking with the actors in order to reduce the stress that she was experiencing.
It is said that within a few hours of Sudeikis learning of Genaro’s request for medical leave, the Emmy-winner asked that they talk to one other, and then he “terminated her on the spot.” According to the complaint, Genaro asserts that she was forced to leave the residence and made to check into a hotel. She also alleges that she attempted to seek Wilde’s backing but was unable. She thinks that she was fired “because of her handicap of anxiety and depression, and for requesting the reasonable accommodation of a three day leave of absence for same” because she was seeking a leave of absence to accommodate her condition.
Genaro has taken the initiative to lodge a complaint of discrimination with the Civil Rights Department for the State of California. She is suing for undisclosed damages for wrongful termination, lost wages, and delayed payments, as well as other losses of job perks, and she is demanding an undetermined sum of compensation.
“Ms. Wilde and Mr. Sudeikis really stepped in it by firing my client when she needed a 72-hour break from the emotional chaos their split created,” said Ron Zambrano, Genaro’s attorney. “Her physician prescribed that she take a break from the emotional chaos that their split created,” said Ms. Wilde and Mr. Sudeikis. “When employees are in need of time off to care for themselves, they are at their most vulnerable. To provide people the assurance that they may take that time off without worrying about their careers, laws have been put in place specifically for this purpose.”
In October, The Daily Mail published a pair of interviews that Genaro had given; but, at the time of publication, her identity was not known to the general public. She messed up the timeframe of Wilde and Styles’ affair and stated that the actress broke up with Sudeikis for Styles, which caused Sudeikis to be very upset. (Yes, she is the one responsible for the famed dispute about salad dressing.) At the time, Sudeikis and Wilde worked together to refute a number of the assertions that were made by the lady.
As a parent, it is incredibly upsetting to learn that a former nanny of our two young children would choose to make such false and scurrilous “Her campaign of tormenting us, as well as loved ones, close friends, and coworkers, which has now been going on for the last 18 months, has unfortunately reached its peak. We are going to keep our primary emphasis on parenting and safeguarding our children in the earnest expectation that she will eventually decide to stop interfering with our family.”
There has been no resolution to the dispute between Wilde and Sudeikis about custody of their two children, Otis, who is eight years old, and Daisy, who is six. Despite this, they were seen kissing and holding one another only a month ago, following an eventful few years. Yahoo Entertainment has been informed by a source that they are attempting to co-parent in an “amicable” manner.
The tension between Olivia Wilde and Jason Styles has reportedly decreased over the last several months after Wilde’s divorce from Styles. According to a source, “Olivia and Jason simply want what’s best for the kids.” It goes without saying that their children will always come before everything else.
