Austin Majors, a former child actor who was most remembered for his recurrent role on the television show NYPD Blue, has away at the age of 27. In the police drama, Majors portrayed Theo Sipowicz for a total of seven seasons. Theo was the son of Detective Andy Sipowicz.
Yahoo Entertainment has learned that the body of Majors was discovered on Saturday in the city of Los Angeles. The investigation into what caused the former actor’s loss has been postponed awaiting the results of more testing. According to Variety, he had been residing at a facility in downtown Los Angeles that serves the needs of the city’s homeless population. When Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass inspected the facility a week ago, he was included in the Los Angeles Daily News article on the visit.
The family of Majors sent a statement to TMZ in which they remembered him as “a lovely human being who was also talented, bright, and compassionate.” Austin’s acting career was a source of immense delight and pride for him. He was an active member of the Eagle Scouts and graduated from high school as the valedictorian. After that, he earned his degree in Directing and Music Production from the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California.
“Kali, Austin’s younger sister, has said that her favorite times spent with her brother include growing up on set with him, working at events with the organization ‘Kids With a Cause,’ and going trekking together. According to his family, “Austin was the sort of son, brother, grandchild, and nephew that made us proud, and we will miss him sincerely and forever.”
In addition to his role in NYPD Blue, Majors was also in the Christmas-themed television movie An Accidental Christmas. During the course of his youth acting career, he had roles in a number of different television programs, including Desperate Housewives, NCIS, and American Dad! According to IMDb, his last acting credit was in an episode of How I Met Your Mother in the year 2009.
