Kelly Ripa is thinking back to some of the most memorable things her husband, Mark Consuelos, said to her when she was in labor with their kid.
A post on Instagram over the weekend requested people to submit “one thing your spouse did, said, or brought to the hospital that truly helped you through your delivery experience.” The television personality, who is 52 years old, provided her response to the question.
While some of the respondents shared their experiences with “post-delivery jalapeo margaritas,” toasted bagels, additional pillows, and a variety of other lines of inquiry, Ripa chose to provide an honest reaction!
“Would it bother you if I ate?” Ripa stated that Conseulos, 51, questioned her while she was in the process of giving birth.
Additionally, “Since you’re going to be here for a long, I’m going to head to the batting cages.”
It is unknown during which delivery of Ripa and Consuelos’ three children — Joaquin, 19, Lola, 21, and Michael, 25 — the actor from All My Children decided to whack a few balls and get a snack. The children are Joaquin, Lola, and Michael.
Ripa has shown a lack of fear when it comes to being open and honest about more difficult topics. The publication of her book titled Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Incidents in September 2022 focused on a number of previously unrecorded stories from throughout her career, including a few that included her late co-host, Regis Philbin.
In an interview on the magazine’s cover, she told PEOPLE that “it was the toughest chapter to write.” “I don’t want anybody to take offense to what I have to say or take the impression that I’m being rude. However, I also want people to understand that it was not a stroll in the park. It took me years to work my way up to that position and earn the things that were provided automatically to the guys I was working beside. Including a space where I can set up my PC as well as an office.”
Ripa also discussed the “dangerous, exhilarating, freeing, shocking…and silent” experience that she and Conseulos just went through as they transitioned into the role of empty-nesters. “There were times when I was like, ‘We’re going to be that couple: Our third kid goes to college, and we get divorced because this is it,” she said. “There were moments when I was like, ‘We’re going to be that couple.
Ripa continued by saying, “But there was this other moment, which was when we walked to the beach alone for the first time since we returned from our honeymoon with cheese and a baguette.” “These other parents were around us with their little children in their arms. It dawned on me that I had completely missed the sunset since I had been so preoccupied with preventing our children from falling into the pool while I wasn’t looking.”
Therefore, I believe that for us, it was a realization that ‘Oh, this next era of our life, this is kind of fantastic.'”
Ripa and her husband are now enjoying the period of their life in which they are, and during the holidays, they are often accompanied by their three children. The presenter of Live with Kelly and Ryan shared some adorable family photographs with their audience in December. The images were taken in front of a Christmas tree.
She captioned the photographs with the phrase, “Merry Christmas the Consuelos family (dogs lasted for one picture, kids for two)”
