Billy Ray Cyrus recently shared the news that he is engaged to the Australian singer Firerose, who is 34 years old.
During a recent interview with People, the singer, who is 61 years old, discussed his romance and confirmed the rumor that he is in a relationship. Firerose revealed that Cyrus popped the question to her back in August, mentioning that he didn’t drop down on one knee to do it and that she didn’t choose her ring until much later.
“Billy gave me a questioning look and asked, “Do you, do you want to marry me?” And I was like, ‘Well, of course, I do,’ she said. “I love you,” she went on to say. “He told me, ‘I love you,'” she recalled. I’d like to put this in writing for the record. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.'”
Cyrus ended up going on to remember how his German Shepherd, Tex, presented him to his now-fiancée while on the set of his show, Hannah Montana, which he starred in with daughter Miley Cyrus in Los Angeles. After praising Firerose’s music career and calling her “the real deal,”
The actor explained, “There are a few old pine trees on the lot that seem like they’re from Tennessee.” In the middle of the day, Tex and I would walk out there, and while he would take care of his business, we would stretch, and I would think about how much I missed Tennessee. On that particular day, Firerose exited the residence through the front entrance. It was almost as though there was a flash of… I don’t know… recognition. I thought to myself, “This girl is a star.”
