Acts perform on America’s Got Talent with the intention of wowing the panel of judges and increasing their chances of advancing to the next round of the competition.

Some acts have tragic backstories that make them stand out from the crowd, while others have performances that are so unique that they are easily distinguishable from those of the other acts.

On the other hand, there are occasions when a particular act might have such a link with the judges that it is impossible to forget about them.

In the case of Jeffrey Li, who is only 12 years old, he most certainly belongs to the third and final category.

During his audition for season 12 of America’s Got Talent, Jeffrey shared with the panel of judges that one of his primary challenges in life is dealing with feelings of isolation. Jeffrey’s only desire was to own a dog.

The fact that the judge, Simon Cowell, is a major animal lover and that he has many dogs of his own at home demonstrates that this young man, aged 12, has done his homework.

Jeffrey made the choice to perform Josh Groban’s “You Raise Me Up” for his audition since the song was one that he sang to distract himself from feelings of loneliness and melancholy.

Jeffrey was given the assurance by Simon that he would be rewarded with a dog of his very own after the event if he performed well during the audition.

This is a really challenging song that many grownups won’t even attempt, but Jeffrey was able to do an outstanding audition despite the difficulty of the material. He really does possess a lovely singing voice.

After Jeffrey had done singing, Heidi Klum was bursting with excitement as she asked him what kind of puppy he desired. She had a strong intuition that he would be selected to receive a dog as a result of the audition.

“Well, Jeffrey, talk about putting everything on the line! At the age of 12, you perform in front of three thousand or four thousand people while singing one of the most famous songs in the world. But I’m not going to tell you what I think of it until the very end; I’m going to reserve that until then.

After that, he gave the floor to Howie Mandel, who unequivocally responded in the affirmative. Jeffrey received three affirmative responses when Mel B., Heidi, and Howie all concurred with him and answered sure.

The conversation then turned rapidly back to Simon, and he was forced to admit what he had been thinking all along!

Not that it should come as any kind of shock, but Simon absolutely adored Jeffrey’s performance. He praised its high quality. And you can always count on Simon to keep his word.

Which meant that Jeffrey would be getting a puppy as a gift from Simon Cowell.

The interaction that took place between Jeffrey, the judges, and himself during his audition was universally praised by users on the internet.

One of the people who left a remark on Facebook even recommended that the commenter give one of their puppies to Simon so that he may give it to Jeffrey:

He was wonderful, and my wife Vicki and I are going to give him an AKC German Shepherd as a gift for Simon. As of today, our puppies are 4 weeks old; therefore, it won’t be too much longer before we can grant this child’s request! Blessings!
