During Florence Welch’s presentation, one of the audience members helped her out!

The frontwoman of Florence + the Machine, who is 36 years old, was presented with an odd gift by a patron during one of the two performances that her band played at Madison Square Garden in New York City last week: a fake hand that had been amputated.

She thanked her followers for the “wonderful present” in the caption of a video she uploaded to her TikTok account on Tuesday, which included footage of the incident.

In the footage, Welch can be heard saying, “It’s a lovely bloody severed hand,” before rhetorically asking, “How did you know?”

She proceeded to make a joke about how she would “eat this later” as she skipped back toward the microphone, leaving the phony hand behind her as she did so.

The band that became known for their song “Dog Days Are Over” is presently on the North American leg of their Dance Fever global tour. They will be making stops in a number of locations like Orlando, Austin, Miami, and Los Angeles, among others. The band released their fifth studio album, titled Dance Fever, in the month of May.

Welch disclosed to Munroe Bergdorf, host of the original podcast The Way We Are, that she came to the conclusion that her alcohol usage was a problem for her around the time that the Ceremonials album was released in 2011, and that she subsequently made the decision to abstain from drinking.

On a recent podcast, the English singer-songwriter shared his thoughts on sobriety, saying, “I believe sobriety is the greatest thing I did in terms of navigating being in the public light.”

“I was one of those drinkers where [it was all or nothing], so it took me a long time to come to terms with the fact that I had an issue with drinking,” Welch said to Bergdorf. “It took me a long time to come to terms with the reality that I had a problem with drinking.” “If I am drinking because I am enjoying it, I will not be able to control it, and if I am drinking because I am not enjoying it, I will not be able to control it. That served as a wake-up call for me in more ways than one.”

The guitarist said about the band’s first album from 2009, “During the Lungs period it was acceptable to be a chaotic mess, ’cause that’s what that was,” referring to the band’s hits “Dog Days Are Over” and “Cosmic Love.”

Welch gave an interview to USA Today in September, just a few days before the start of her tour, in which she discussed the items that she considered essential on the road.

“Every dressing room requires that I bring in various items to embellish it. Over the years, I’ve amassed a sizable collection of vintage piano shawls from a wide variety of antique shops, and I also bring my own embroidered bedspreads “she said to the media source. “That is really useful. Whatever bus I’m riding in or hotel room I’m staying in, I always have stuff with me that might be used to decorate a space.”
