By the time Joe was five, he was already partaking in New York plays, and by ten, he became a regular cast member of the television series “Startime Kids.” However, Joe did not agree with all of his father’s decisions to plan his career for him. The actor said:

“My father loved me so much that he did not want me to be a laborer or anything. I don’t know if it’s the right thing to do – push your kids into something and then stey on them until they do it.”

If he had his way, Joe would have chosen a different path. However, acting seemed to be the right career that led him to success.

Joe’s big break came in 1976, when he was 36 years old and working at his restaurant. Hollywood legends Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese walked in and offered him a part in “Raging Bull.”

In 1989, Joe got more attention for his role in “Lethal Weapon 2,” which he played with Danny Glover and Mel Gibson. The next year, he starred in another famous movie, “Goodfellas.”

Even though he was successful and well-known, Joe stayed humble. Joe gave a short speech when he won an Academy Award. He didn’t expect to win, so he was surprised. “It becomes a contest of favorites, a popularity contest, and honestly, I didn’t think I was that popular,” he said.

Joe was a big name in his industry, so everyone was interested in him. This made it hard for him to have privacy. But he liked to keep his private life private, especially his love life.

On one occasion while filming “My Cousin Vinny,” Joe was caught whispering “I love you” into the phone. Thinking on his feet, the actor denied that he was talking to his wife and said:

“That is my mother. I try to call her and get her to hang out with me, but our schedules are so different.”

Even though Joe was the focus of everyone’s attention, he managed to keep quiet about his life behind the scenes. The star of “The Irishman” was married three times and had a daughter named Tiffany. However, not much is known about his relationships because he refuses to talk about them.

One of his well-known marriages was to actress Claudia Haro, which lasted only a few years. He later went out with model Angie Everheart, who was 27 years younger and a few inches taller than him. The two got engaged, but after nine months, they broke up.

In 1999, Joe said he was going to retire. After that, he only took on special projects, like a cameo in “The Good Shepherd.” He was also in “I Go Back Home: Jimmy Scott,” a documentary about the musician.

Aside from a few fleeting moments on-screen, Joe stayed out of the public eye and kept a low profile. Joe still talks to Robert De Niro, but he doesn’t watch many movies anymore. But he might have some ideas that he doesn’t want to share.

The actor likes to play his guitar, play golf, and hang out in his private stable, where he raises racehorses. He said:

“I’m just playing around with it because I love horses and the business. Always did.”

Even though his estate is on the market for a high price, it seems like Joe is not willing to give discounts.
In 2019, it was said that the performer was more interested in pursuing music than anything else.

Joe hid from the public eye for a while, but when he sold his villa in Lavallette, New Jersey, for $6.5 million, he was back in the news. The house had been on the market before, in November 2019.

The actor’s house is on a 7,200-square-foot lot and has eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms. It also has a media room, a bar that serves drinks, and a pinball machine.

Even though Joe is selling his property for a high price, it looks like he is not willing to lower the price. Celebrities in America often have homes that cost millions of dollars, like Robin Roberts of “Good Morning America,” who lives in a $410 million mansion.
