Throughout her career, she has been recognized for playing characters that are friendly, hilarious, and sometimes even downright charming; these roles have earned her the reputation of being a sweetheart in the eyes of many people. Regrettably, the same level of success has not been recorded in her romantic life.

Billy Bob Thornton was the first guy she had a love involvement with, but he dumped her for Angelina Jolie. He is now married to Angelina Jolie. According to Dern, the only time she became aware that the guy was leaving her was after he had already done so. She had been at work when it occurred, and while she was there, her boyfriend got married, and that was the last time she heard from him. She stayed blissfully uninformed of the event the whole time she was at work.

It was difficult for her to process, and Dern described it as a sudden death that left no room for clarity or closure; however, with the passage of time, she was able to get past the heartbreak, find another man, and even get married. Outside of music, Harper is a co-owner of the Roller Horror skating company, and his Instagram profile is loaded with skateboarding video that shows him attempting new tricks. However, despite the fact that they made it to the altar, the actors’ lives took another unexpected turn for the worst. He was without a doubt an intriguing guy, and Dern shared this opinion.

When the brilliant man served her with divorce papers in October 2010, claiming irreconcilable differences as the reason, according to individuals who were close to Dern and Harper, there had been little to no evidence that they were having difficulties in paradise, according to those people.

In the legal petition, Harper said that she and her partner had been apart since January, despite the fact that they had traveled together during the whole of the previous year and that they had had been physically intimate only one week before. However, he urged that Dern be disqualified from receiving spousal support and asked for shared legal and physical custody of their two children.

The divorce processes started right then and there, and they went on for three years until they were finally completed in 2013; nevertheless, the couple got back together in 2012 in an attempt to save their marriage.

After some time had passed, Dern came to the conclusion that this was a poor decision and made up her mind that she wanted to cut all ties with him. She responded to the divorce papers that Harper had filed and claimed primary physical custody of their two children in the proceeding.

The court gave them joint custody of the children and signed the petition, but the specifics of their settlement were kept secret. It was eventually made public, however, that neither party was required to pay the other spousal support as part of the agreement.

Two years later, Harper went on with another lady called Jaclyn Matfus, whom he eventually married in a surprise ceremony and to whom he has remained happily married to this day.

Because of the breakdown of her relationship with Harper, Dern was responsible for bringing up their children by herself. Ellery Harper, her oldest kid, is a boy, and reports have it that he works as a model. He has allegedly made appearances in fashion shows that were produced by prominent designers such as Raf Simmons.

His first appearance in print was on the cover of the Spring/Summer 2021 issue of ODDA, an arts and culture magazine with its headquarters in New York City. According to Closer Weekly, the youngster who was born on August 21, 2004, is quite reticent when it comes to discussing his mother’s professional life, but this does not affect his connection with her in any way.

In point of fact, the two individuals have a robust connection, and Dern has been a really active participant in Harper’s life, despite the fact that Harper tries his best to keep up. Jaya, the musician’s second kid with Dern, was born on November 28, 2004, and she was given the name Jaya.

The young woman is still in her teens, but she has already made her debut on television. Her first TV appearance was in an episode of Entertainment Tonight, and her second was in a movie that was released in February 2021 and was named Teenage Emotions.

In addition to her apparent attraction to the limelight, Jaya is also known for being very outspoken. This trait was most notably on display when she appeared alongside her mother at the 2019 Golden Globes. Jaya’s mother wore a “Time’s Up” ribbon in support of the #MeToo movement during the awards show.

As was the case with her first child, Dern has a unique relationship with her daughter and is known to often post images of the outspoken youngster along with gushing compliments on various social media platforms.

The actress is very proud of her children, and despite the fact that she has a set child support arrangement, she was kind enough to negotiate a reduction in Harper’s child support limit from $17,000 per month to $10,000 per month.

Although she has no qualms about discussing the concept of single parenting and has successfully brought up both of her children without the assistance of a partner, Dern chooses not to talk about her first marriage. Despite this, she does not mind discussing the fact that she was previously married.

Being a single mother isn’t always easy, despite the fact that she manages to make it seem effortless because to the passion she puts into it. In regard to the hardship, this is what she had to say:

“On the challenging days, it’s stressful and there is too much going on as a single parent—and it may be hard to take out a minute for yourself,” said one single parent. “[T]here is just too much going on.”

Dern has also admitted that nobody has ever bullied her in her life as a single parent, and even though she has good people around her, she believes that it is something she can do on her own. Despite the fact that she has good people around her, she believes that it is something she can do on her own.

She claims that being a mother has given her new perspectives on life, and the more she realizes how much she needs to improve as a parent, the more deeply she falls in love with her children.

Dern is a single mother, and as a result, she believes she has earned the right to earn a significant amount of money. However, above all else, Dern cherishes her history since it was essential in her development into the person she is today.
