When a nice school resource officer in Arkansas wanted to make sure that a little girl who had just lost her father wouldn’t miss out on the father-daughter school dance, he took the initiative and escorted her there. The delightful surprise brought tears of pleasure to the young girl’s eyes!

Upon learning that Avey Cox, a second-grader at Van Buren District Elementary School, would not be able to attend the daddy-daughter dance leading to the loss of her father, Cpl. Nick Harvey determined to do something to make her feel included. He and the other resource officers volunteered to transport any youngsters who did not have father figures to the occasion. In one particular instance, he stood up for Avey, who was eight years old at the time!

Officer Harvey met with the girl’s mother first, and she consented to the arrest. More importantly, the young girl was overjoyed that she would not be missing the dance!

“I reached out to the mother, and she assured me that everything was OK,” the resource officer stated on KFSM radio. The last thing I wanted to do was to be rejected by a second-grader, which is exactly what happened. Consequently, her mother discussed the situation with her, and the next day, I officially requested her to accompany me to the daddy-daughter dance.”

She was absolutely stunning.” There are several reasons why I like my profession. However, it is for these reasons that my work is the finest employment for me.”
