This is the emotional moment when a poor stray dog understands people can also be friendly and sheds tears. The dog, who was heavily pregnant, was exploring the streets looking for food when she came across a couple eating lunch on the side of the road. The stray pittie had only hoped for some leftovers when she was adopted, and the experience was too much for her to bear.

When Jacks Anderson and her wife stopped to buy some food from a street vendor, they first noticed the black pit bull mix!

“She never took her eyes off of us, but she didn’t come close or beg for food,” Anderson explained to The Dodo. “The stand’s owners came out and shooed her along the sidewalk. She was clearly terrified, and she vanished.”

While driving back to their home, the couple became aware that the dog was expecting a child. The driver and his passenger decided to pull over and offer her some food. Despite this, Anderson’s wife was moved by the plight of the helpless puppy, and she made an effort to pet and feed her from her hand in the hopes of winning her trust in this manner.

But they both realized they couldn’t just leave her there, so they decided to put the dog in the back of their car instead. The instant the dog understood she was secure and that she was receiving comfort from a stranger, she became so emotional that she burst into tears of ecstasy. Anderson was there to see the emotional scene, which was captured on camera!

It was at that point that they “just kind of paused” to allow Poppy (as the dog was eventually named) to calm down a little. “But honestly, she was far more calm than I had anticipated,” the man said later. “As I began to shoot the video of my wife cuddling Poppy, I noticed that tears were streaming from her eyes. I immediately stopped recording. This is something I’ve never seen before in a dog, and it had a significant impression on me.”

The dog was subsequently taken to the veterinarian by the two very nice individuals. Despite the fact that she had fleas, her overall health was excellent.

As a result, Anderson and his wife agreed to foster Poppy for a few days until they were able to locate a family to take her in. However, these few days were sufficient for them to fall head over heels in love with Poppy and decide to retain her.

“Poppy is the kind of dog who loves to be loved,” Anderson said. “Poppy is going to stay with us.” All the while, we’re learning more about her and developing our relationship with him. Our foster care experience has been a complete disaster, but there are worse things in life to be!”
