Charlize Theron is a well-known actress who was born in South Africa and became a citizen of the United States in 2007. Her work has garnered not just financial success but also widespread critical praise, making her one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood. She was honored with awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Screen Actors Guild, and the Golden Globes.

The actress initially gained widespread recognition in the 1990s, when she was cast in the movies “The Devil’s Advocate,” “Mighty Joe Young,” and “The Cider House Rules,” respectively. She created a name for herself in 2003 when she became the first South African to win an Oscar for an acting category. Her performance as serial murderer Aileen Wuornos in the film “Monster” earned her the award for Best Actress at the Academy Awards.

In her private life, Theron is a single mother to her two adoptive children whom she raised alone. She became Jackson’s mother in March of 2012, and she became August’s mother in July of 2015. In April of 2019, she disclosed that Jackson, who was conceived as a boy at birth, is really a transgender woman. She said to the Daily Mail:

“Yes, I was under the impression that she was a male as well. It wasn’t until she was three years old that she looked at me and said, “I am not a boy!” And there you have it! I am blessed with two lovely girls, and like any other parent, I want to do all I can to ensure their happiness and success.

She continued by saying that as a mother, it was her top responsibility to love and accept her children.

“As a parent, it is my responsibility to honor them, to love them, and to make sure that they have all they need so that they may become whatever it is that they envision for themselves. The elated mother said, “And I will do everything in my power for my children to have that right and to be protected within that.”

Together, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning community, as well as drag queens, have been taking a battering as of late as a result of recent legislative changes throughout the United States. Because of the increasingly hostile political atmosphere in Florida leading up to the expected passage of an anti-drag measure, the state’s Pride group said that it was forced to cancel its annual march in the city of Port St. Lucie, which is located in the state.

In February of 2023, the governor of Tennessee, measure Lee, passed a measure that virtually forbids drag performances in public areas and anyplace persons under the age of 18 are present. The bill’s supporters cited the necessity to prevent kids from being exposed to “sexualized entertainment” or “obscenity.”

As of May 2023, the American Civil Liberties Union was monitoring 474 anti-LGBTQ laws that were being considered in the United States. It was said that even if not all of these legislation would be passed into law, they would all be harmful to LGBTQ people. It was also said that legislators were taking aim at LGBTQ rights in areas such as freedom of speech, job discrimination, access to healthcare, and participation in industries like as education and sports.

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) issued a statement on May 3, 2023, condemning the hostility and violence that is brought about by such political events. This statement was issued in response to the mountain of dangers that was towering over the community.

“Extremist politicians in Florida are putting in extra hours to make their state less free and downright hazardous for everyone, particularly LGBTQ people, young people, and families. According to the report, this leaves “every citizen and every visitor to Florida susceptible to discriminatory and groundless criminalization.”

In the meanwhile, on May 7, 2023, there was a telethon called “Drag Isn’t Dangerous” that was staged with the intention of swimming against the political current. Theron is one of the famous people who are supporting this event, and she just taped a testimony with her gay friends in order to strike back at those who are trying to bring the community down.

In the video, Theron expressed her solidarity with drag queens, who have recently been under attack from various political groupings.

“We adore you queens. Theron said with zeal and fervor that “we are in your corner and we have you, and I will f*** up anybody who is trying to f*** with anything with you guys.”

“There are so many things that are hurting and, really, killing our kids, and we all know what I’m talking about right now and it ain’t no drag queen — because if you’ve ever seen a drag queen lip-sync for her life, it only makes you happier, it only makes you love more, it makes you a better person,” she continued.

“I want to ask everyone out there to please, please support all of the great organizations that are out there helping all of this nonsense go away like it should,” said the speaker. “Each and every one of these ridiculously inept policies,” she said. After that, she left us with a rousing parting statement: “No more room for hate, only love, and love equals drag queens!”

Idina Menzel, Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, Jesse Eisenberg, and Sarah Hyland were some of the other well-known people that attended and participated in the event.

During the telethon, they were also joined by another actress, Marcia Gay Harden, who discussed the ways in which she and her family are involved in the local community.

“What motivates me is the fact that all of my kids are gay. My oldest kid does not identify with any gender. My son is homosexual. My youngest child is malleable. She said, “And you know, they are my kids, and every day they teach me something new.” In addition, Harden posted on his Instagram account, saying, “The only thing scary about drag is how sexy these Queens are!… The gay lifestyle is here to stay. It’s official: drag is here to stay.
