In an effort to capture speeding drivers in the act, German law enforcement officials have recently deployed several traffic cameras along roadways around the city of Bonn.

However, what they did not anticipate was photographing something other than a human being operating the vehicle in the driver’s seat.

One photograph, in particular, stood out to officers of the Bonn Police Department as they were going through the pictures that were returned by those cameras. It showed a white automobile going around 7 miles per hour faster than the speed limit, and by the looks of it, the driver of the car was a really gorgeous dog.

And as if that weren’t remarkable enough, he seemed to accomplish everything while keeping his eyes closed the whole time.

The photograph was an example of an optical illusion because the dog was positioned so that it completely obscured the face of the person in control of the vehicle at the time. However, the fact that it was captured in such a way made it more than just curiosity; in fact, it allowed the owner of the dog to avoid punishment.

The traffic infringement would have resulted in a fine of around $55 under normal circumstances; however, the police are unable to take any further action since the individual involved could not be recognized.

A spokeswoman for the police department said to the local media that “the driver, in this case, is very fortunate.”

As a result of the driver getting away with what basically amounts to simply a warning since the dog was so obedient, we can only hope that they will ease off on the throttle pedal a little bit moving ahead.
