Fourteen-year-old Thia Megia from California amazed both the judges and the audience when she took the stage to perform one of the most demanding songs ever recorded.

Although she was only an eighth-grade student, she showed remarkable confidence despite admitting she was nervous. After years of imagining herself in that moment and practicing in front of her bedroom mirror, she finally got the opportunity to turn her dream into reality during a crucial audition.

Her rendition of Jennifer Holliday’s “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” was extraordinary. Thia handled the song’s difficult vocal passages and soaring notes with impressive skill, displaying a level of maturity and emotion far beyond her years.

Her powerful delivery and strong connection to the lyrics demonstrated exceptional talent, quickly convincing the judges that she was a standout competitor.

The performance earned an enthusiastic standing ovation and high praise from the judging panel. They were astonished by the strength and passion of her voice, with one judge even calling her the best singer they had encountered in the competition. Receiving unanimous approval to advance to the Las Vegas round, Thia went from being a young dreamer with big ambitions to a rising star capturing widespread attention.
