Anthony Head, the acclaimed actor known for his roles in *Buffy the Vampire Slayer* and *Ted Lasso*, has passed away at the age of 72, just six months after the death of his longtime partner.

His daughters, Emily and Daisy Head, confirmed the news in a statement shared with the Press Association. They revealed that Head died peacefully from complications related to pneumonia while surrounded by his loved ones.

Head was widely recognized for portraying Rupert Giles in *Buffy the Vampire Slayer*, serving as both mentor and father figure to Buffy Summers, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar.

His passing follows the sudden death of his partner, Sarah Fisher, who died in December at age 61. Her daughters described her loss as unexpected and deeply shocking.

In their tribute, Emily and Daisy Head said it was a privilege to be his daughters and to witness the positive impact he had on audiences throughout his career. They noted that he was deeply passionate about acting and felt fortunate to work alongside talented colleagues on numerous productions over several decades.

The statement also emphasized that while his absence leaves an immense void, his legacy will continue through the many television shows and films he helped bring to life. They expressed gratitude that audiences will always be able to watch and enjoy his work and requested privacy as the family mourns.

Head’s final screen appearance was in the 2024 film *Upgraded*. He was also known for playing Rupert Mannion, Rebecca Welton’s former husband and ex-owner of AFC Richmond, in the first three seasons of *Ted Lasso*.

Over a career spanning nearly five decades, Head built an impressive body of work that included notable roles in *Merlin*, *Little Britain*, *Dominion*, and *The Stranger*.
