A representative for the couple confirmed to PEOPLE on Thursday, May 14, that Jason Biggs, 48, and Jenny Mollen, 46, have decided to separate. Despite the split, they remain on good terms and are committed to raising their two sons, Lazlo, 8, and Sid, 12, together. According to a source close to them, the pair are “doing great” and even celebrated Biggs’ 48th birthday together as a family on Tuesday, May 12.

The source added that the two continue to share a strong connection and are expected to maintain a positive coparenting relationship moving forward.

Biggs and Mollen first met while filming the 2008 movie My Best Friend’s Girl. They got engaged in January 2008 and quietly married in a private ceremony that April. Later that July, they held a second wedding celebration in Napa, California, attended by around 40 guests, according to PEOPLE.

Over the years, the couple largely kept their personal life out of the spotlight and rarely shared images of their children publicly. Mollen last posted a photo with Biggs on Instagram in November 2025, joking in the caption that they were “a totally approachable couple not trying to seduce you.”

For Biggs’ 47th birthday in May 2025, Mollen shared a black-and-white photo of the two embracing at what she humorously referred to as his “surprise 30th” birthday party. In the caption, she reflected on how little she initially knew about him, including his dislike of surprises, before wishing him a happy birthday and assuring him she had planned nothing this time.

The couple also celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary in April 2025 by posting videos of Biggs being playful and spending time with their children. Mollen captioned the tribute, “17 years of this. Happy Anniversary @biggsjason.”

Biggs is widely recognized for playing Jim Levenstein in the American Pie series, which released four films between 1999 and 2012. More recently, he made his directorial debut with Untitled Home Invasion Romance and appeared as himself in the Prime Video comedy Operation Taco Gary’s.

Mollen, also an actress, is known for roles in films like Crazy, Stupid, Love. and TV series including Girls, Wilfred, and Chicago Fire. In addition to acting, she is a successful author whose books I Like You Just The Way I Am and Live Fast Die Hot both made the New York Times bestseller list. Most recently, she and Biggs appeared together in the comedy Influenced, currently in theaters.
