A flight attendant who was ejected from an Air Canada Express plane during a deadly crash at LaGuardia Airport stayed conscious throughout the entire incident, according to her daughter.

Solange Tremblay was among the survivors of the March 22 crash involving the aircraft and a firetruck, as shared in a GoFundMe campaign created by her daughter, Sarah Lépine.

At the time of the accident, Tremblay — a senior flight attendant — was seated in her jump seat just behind the cockpit. The impact caused her to be thrown from the plane, her daughter explained.

She reportedly traveled over 320 feet and was still secured in her seat when emergency responders found her on the runway. Despite the severity of the situation, she remained conscious the entire time.

Tremblay suffered serious injuries, including both legs being badly broken with open fractures, requiring metal plates for reconstruction. She will also need skin grafts to treat significant tissue loss caused during the incident.

In addition, she sustained a spinal fracture and is awaiting confirmation on whether surgery will be necessary. She has already undergone one operation and required a blood transfusion due to complications.

Lépine said her mother will remain in New York for an extended period and faces a long recovery process, including intensive rehabilitation to regain the ability to walk. She added that the family’s biggest concern right now is the risk of infection, which could lead to further complications.

Describing her mother, Lépine said she had devoted her life to her career as a flight attendant and took great pride in helping passengers travel safely.

She previously told TVA News that her mother’s survival was “nothing short of a miracle,” noting that the crash claimed the lives of both pilots. “It could have been far worse,” she said, adding that it felt like someone was watching over her.

As of March 30, nearly $190,000 has been raised through the GoFundMe campaign to support Tremblay’s recovery.
