According to a number of his close acquaintances, Scott Spiegel, a legendary figure in the horror genre who collaborated regularly with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, has passed away.

Robert Kurtzman, who appeared on “Evil Dead II” as a member of the special effects makeup team, broke the news on Monday, confirming that he had died away and reminiscing about the regular cooperation they had enjoyed over the years. In a post that Campbell reshared on X, he referred to his passing as a “big personal loss” and said that he was always warmly remembered as a “treasure trove of happy memories.”

The late 1970s marked the beginning of Spiegel’s career in the film business, during which he began his career as an actor and writer, contributing to films such as “It’s Murder” and “Attack of the Helping Hand.”

The script that he created for “Evil Dead II” is arguably the most well-known contribution that he has made to the horror genre.

Spiegel attended the same high school as both Campbell and Raimi, the filmmaker, and he worked with both of them on several occasions during his career. He even landed tiny roles in films such as “Spider-Man 2,” in which he attempted to steal pizzas from the character of the same name, and “Drag Me to Hell.”

The films “The Quick and the Dead,” “Darkman,” “From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money,” “Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness,” and “Robot Ninja” are just some of the other films that he has worked on as an actor, writer, or director over his career.
