In one of the most unusual dinner party stories online, a man revealed that he once served tacos made from his own amputated leg to a group of consenting friends.

The Reddit user, who chose to remain anonymous and avoid being labeled “that weird cannibal guy,” said that 10 friends knowingly participated in the meal.

The incident traces back to June 2016, when he was struck by a car while riding his motorcycle, leaving his foot severely damaged. Doctors amputated the limb, and the man arranged to keep it, taking it home in a sealed biohazard bag.

Initially, he considered preserving the foot as a freeze-dried keepsake or even having it taxidermied, but these plans proved impractical. Recalling previous conversations with friends about trying ethically sourced human meat, he decided to make the hypothetical a reality.

“Remember our talks about trying human meat ethically? Well, I’m calling you on that,” he asked, and ten friends agreed.

Once home, the foot was treated more like an object than a part of his body. A friend who was a chef marinated it with lime, onions, and peppers overnight, then cooked it into “shin fajita tacos.” The meal included apple strudel, quiches, fruit tarts, and gin lemonade punch.

As the group gathered, there was an awkward moment of hesitation. The tacos were described as tasting “like buffalo—chewy, beefy, and slightly fatty.”

For the host, the meal was more than a stunt; it was a way to reclaim control over a traumatic experience. “It was a unique experience that helped close a painful chapter,” he explained.

Regarding the ethics of eating his own flesh and serving it to others, he was unapologetic. “No waste, all consented, and everyone was okay with it. It’s a fun, weird story.”

Legally, the dinner didn’t break any laws. While cannibalism is taboo, the U.S. has no federal prohibition, and since the act was consensual and private, it was legally permissible.
