Unfortunately, David Kaff, who was most remembered for his performance as Viv Savage, a pianist, in the classic film “This is Spinal Tap,” has passed away.
An notice was made on Facebook by Kaff’s band, “Mutual of Alameda’s Wild Kingdom,” stating that he passed away peacefully in his sleep. However, the band did not provide any information on the cause of death.
The members of the hard rock band expressed their grief at Kaff’s passing, describing him as a kind and quick-witted individual who had the ability to make people laugh and smile.
David Kaffinetti, better known by his stage name Kaff, began his career in the music industry as a pioneering member of the British rock band “Rare Bird,” which he belonged to from 1969 until 1975. During this time period, the band published five studio albums, and their song “Sympathy” shot to the top of the charts and sold an estimated one million copies throughout the United States and other countries.
Next, Kaff was given his major break in the year 1984. When Rob Reiner was cast in the role of Viv Savage, the keyboardist for the fictitious English rock band, he directed the mockumentary film “This Is Spinal Tap.”
Throughout the course of the film, his character delivered a number of notable lines, such as “Quite exciting, this computer magic!” in addition to “Have a good time…at all times.”
Despite the fact that “Spinal Tap” was a fake band, Kaff and the other performers performed live gigs during the first year after the film’s release. They even made an appearance on “Saturday Night Live.” After that, Kaff departed the band before the end of the year and never looked back, severing all links with the group.
