In the first public statements she has made after the loss of her three kids, the mother of the three little girls who were reportedly murdered by their own father, who is still unknown, has published a heartfelt homage to her daughters.
An unimaginable tragedy has left a mother in a state of sorrow.

At a memorial service held on Friday for her three girls, who were allegedly killed by their father and her ex-husband, Travis Decker, Whitney Decker spoke through tears as she paid tribute to her daughters.

“I truly hope that the legacy of the girls’ lives lives on in everyone’s heart forever,” the grieving mom told the thousands of mourners on hand to pay tribute to Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5, in a video shared by NBC affiliate King 5 Seattle. “They were incredible.”

At the funeral, Whitney made her first public statement since the children were reportedly discovered smothered and tied at a campsite in the state of Washington, after a meeting with their father to discuss custody of them.

According to King 5 News, Whitney also recounted her divorce from Travis and how she believes her girls learnt to communicate their emotions throughout the challenging period for their family.

Arianna Cozart, Whitney’s attorney, revealed in a statement to PEOPLE that she and Travis, a homeless Army veteran who was 32 years old at the time, had divorced in 2022. The reason for their breakup was Travis’s persistent difficulties with mental health, which included paranoia and borderline personality disorder.

“After my divorce, there were a lot of feelings flowing through my house — especially with three small, tiny women,” she said to me.

“When the world slowed down, it gave me an inside look at their day,” Whitney said of the conversations that often took place before sleep. “It was like a window into their world.” “I believe doing this with them allowed them to come into the world with open hearts and kindness.”

At the conclusion of her remarks, Whitney expressed her gratitude to all of the individuals who had come to the memorial ceremony held at Rocky Reach Park in Wenatchee, Washington, for their “outpouring of love.”

It was on May 30 that Decker was last seen, and he was taking the girls out for a “planned visitation.” After Travis failed to return with the girls that evening, they were marked as missing and reported as missing.

Just a few days later, on June 2, the three sisters were located near Rock Island Campground. According to reports, they were wearing plastic bags on their heads and had zip ties around their wrists. This discovery took place not too far from the location where Travis’ abandoned vehicle was also discovered. In the end, authorities found that they had died as a result of asphyxia.

Despite the fact that the manhunt is getting up to its fourth week, the authorities are still looking for Travis. Chelan County Sheriff Michael Morrison expressed his fears last week that “misguided” supporters could attempt to assist the fugitive continue on the run. Despite the fact that Cozart has said that she thinks he has most likely committed himself, federal officials have joined the hunt for him.

“I mean, he’s accused of murder — not just once, but three times — and he is a danger,” said the sheriff in his statement.
