Tonight, Blake Lively made an appearance at Chanel’s Tribeca Artists Dinner, which took place only a few hours after Justin Baldoni’s countersuit against her and other parties was dismissed.
During her time on the red carpet, the actress was all smiles as she posed for photographs while wearing a white dress with floral decorations and shoes that matched. She had her hair down and wore earrings that made a statement.
Lively’s appearance at the event that took place on Monday, June 9, comes just a few hours after Judge Lewis J. Liman granted a motion to dismiss the $400 million countersuit that Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties filed in January against Lively, Ryan Reynolds, their publicist Leslie Sloane, and Sloane’s public relations firm Vision PR, Inc., alleging extortion and defamation.
Additionally, he said that he had been subjected to false light violation of privacy, breach of the implicit obligation of good faith and fair dealing, deliberate interference with contractual relations, intentional interference with potential economic benefit, and negligent interference with prospective economic gain.
A retaliatory public smear effort to “destroy” Lively’s reputation was launched in reaction to the lawsuit that Lively filed in December. In that case, she accused Baldoni and his production business, among other parties, of sexual harassment. Lively’s lawsuit was immediately followed by the filing of this lawsuit.
Following the publication of an investigative article by The New York Times that looked into Lively’s accusations, Baldoni launched a lawsuit against the publication for $250 million, saying that the publication had committed libel. The New York Times dismissed the allegations.
Additionally, the court rejected the defamation action against the Times that was filed against the newspaper for $250 million on Monday.
It was brought to the attention of the court that Baldoni’s legal team has the ability to modify the claims for violation of implied covenant and tortious interference with contract if they so desire. The 23rd of June constitutes their deadline.
Additionally, Marvel’s petition to be withdrawn from the continuing court dispute between Lively and Baldoni, which is over Reynolds’ Nicepool character, was granted on the same day.
The attorneys for Blake Lively, Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb, issued a statement that was obtained by PEOPLE. In the statement, they said, “Today’s opinion is a total victory and a complete vindication for Blake Lively, along with those that Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties dragged into their retaliatory lawsuit, including Ryan Reynolds, Leslie Sloane, and The New York Times.”
“As we have said from day one, this ‘$400 million’ lawsuit was a sham, and the Court saw right through it,” according to the announcement.
“We look forward to the next round, which is seeking attorneys’ fees, treble damages and punitive damages against Baldoni, [Steve] Sarowitz, [Melissa] Nathan and the other Wayfarer Parties who perpetrated this abusive litigation,” according to the subsequent statement.
Lively also expressed her opinion on Instagram Stories, saying, “Like so many others, I’ve felt the pain of a retaliatory lawsuit, including the manufactured shame that tries to break us.” Lively’s statement was posted on Instagram Stories.
“While the suit against me was defeated, so many don’t have the resources to fight back,” she stated, pointing out that she is currently “more resolved than ever to continue to stand for every woman’s right to have a voice in protecting themselves, including their safety, their integrity, their dignity and their story.”
With affection and appreciation for the many people who stood by me, many of whom I am familiar with. I don’t know a lot of you. In addition, she sent a list of organizations that provide information and tools that are pertinent to the situation. “But I will never stop appreciating or advocating for you,” she said.
