While attending the premiere of Snow White in Los Angeles, Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot transformed the red carpet into a runway straight out of a fantasy.

The event for the film directed by Marc Webb was held at El Capitan Theatre on Saturday, March 15, and both of the actors who played the roles in the film were there. Snow White is played by Zegler, who is 23 years old, while Gadot, who is 39 years old, plays the role of the Evil Queen.

As part of the festivities commemorating the debut of the film musical, the actresses donned outfits that were reminiscent of their most famous roles.

She wore a light rose-colored strapless gown with a corseted bodice that was embellished with butterfly appliqués and a voluminous, floor-length skirt. Zegler looked very stunning in this dress. She complemented her look with a diamond necklace and wore her hair in a sophisticated updo.

While this was going on, Gadot chose to wear a dress made of transparent black lace that had a ruffled miniskirt that was layered on top of a larger floor-length skirt. She wore her hair down in a sleek, middle-part manner, and she finished off her outfit with a glittering statement necklace that had a tassel attached to it.

The premiere in Los Angeles follows in the footsteps of the premiere in Europe, which took place in a castle in Segovia, Spain, and featured Zegler performing “Waiting on a Wish,” one of the film’s original songs, for the audience attending the premiere. As a consequence of the efforts that have been made to avoid the reaction that has been connected with Snow White ever since it was revealed in September 2022, a series of low-key promotional events have been held in advance of the premiere of the film.

Zegler in particular has been the subject of criticism, not only for her casting but also for her perspectives on the first film adaptation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which was released in 1937.

She faced racial hostility when she was unveiled as Snow White since she was of Latinx origin (Zegler is of Colombian and Polish ancestry). This was due to the fact that she was stepping into the shoes of the Disney Princess even though she was of Latinx background.

In a subsequent interview with Variety in 2024, she said that the genesis story of Snow White’s name in the new film is different from the one in the original animated Disney movie. The original Disney movie, along with the Grimm fairy tale from the 19th century, portrays the heroine as having “skin as white as snow.” Instead, the explanation that is presented in the year 2025 suggests that the character was born in the midst of a blizzard, and that her name is a reference to her “resilience.”

The actress has also been vocal about her criticism of the animation, especially her opinions on the “dated” storyline that it contains.

The actress responded to the criticism by stating, “I interpret people’s feelings about this film as their passion for [the Snow White character] and what an honor it is to be a part of something that people are so passionate about.” This statement was made in a recent interview with Vogue Mexico.

Peter Dinklage, an actor who is not a part of the ensemble, has criticized the “hypocrisy” of the film, suggesting that it is based on a fairy tale that tells a “backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together.”

“Literally no offense to anyone, but I was a little taken aback — they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White,” he stated in response. “But you are still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” the speaker observed. Take a moment to consider what you are doing there and take a step back. It does not make any sense to me.

In a statement that was sent to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney responded to the complaints that Dinklage had made. A representative of the company informed the source, “To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community.”

In addition, David Hand, who is 93 years old and the son of one of the co-directors of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, has expressed his disapproval of the lack of “respect” that was shown in the recent remake. It was reported by Entertainment Weekly that he said, “It’s a whole different concept, and I just totally disagree with it,” in an interview with The Telegraph.
