Following a “graphic” confession from the devil horn-tattooed murderer, the family of one victim reveals the gruesome murder of their loved one. The killer is said to have eaten pieces of their bodies and drunk their blood “over several days from a coffee cup” in order to “gain their power.”

A guy from South Carolina, who was 22 years old and staying in a mental health institution, was brutally killed by another inmate, who, according to the family, “had every telltale sign of a budding serial killer.” The family is seeking justice for the murder-suicide.

Jared Ondrea, who was 22 years old at the time, was proclaimed de.ad in 2023, purportedly as a result of a “graphic” confession made by Marc-Anthony Cantrell. However, his corpse has never been located since it was never recovered.

Cantrell is said to have acknowledged to the murder of Deshea Butler, who was reported missing from the same institution, in addition to the murder of Ondrea.

The South Carolina Department of Mental Health (SCDMH) and New Hope Home Solutions LLC, the institution in issue, were named as defendants in the case that was brought by Peggy, Ondrea’s grandmother, according to WIS 10. The family claims that they were unaware that the institution also “served as a halfway house for released convicted criminals.” On the other hand, the complaint states that SCDMH recommended New Hope to the family.

Among them was Cantrell, who, according to the lawsuit, had a “dangerous criminal history.” This included the allegation that he had set fire to his grandmother’s home in order to “cover up the fact that he had brutally killed the family’s three dogs in what appeared to be a gruesome scene.”

The complaint said that Cantrell was “hard to miss” due to the fact that “during his time in prison, Cantrell had gotten devil horns tattooed on his forehead, signifying his love and worship of Satan.” This stated that Cantrell’s look was “hard to miss.”

The last time the family saw Jared alive was on March 20, 2023, which was exactly one month after he went into the institution, according to the family’s perspective. On the same day, his grandma had brought him to a lake in the neighborhood, and then she had returned him to his neighborhood before the curfew.

In accordance with the lawsuit, when his grandparents arrived two days later, on March 22, he did not greet them outside, and nobody at the facility opened the front door. They claim that they did not hear from New Hope until the next day, when he reportedly informed them that he had been gone ever since the family had left him there.

According to his family, his absence was “alarmingly out of character for Jared,” who are of the opinion that he liked to isolate himself in his room before going missing. There was a search conducted, but his corpse was never located.

Other residents of the same institution, including Deshea Butler, went missing four months after Jared went missing. Jared was the only person who had gone. The corpse of Butler, who was identified by the police as Cantrell’s “roommate,” was found on July 6 after it had been reported missing on July 4. But Butler had been gone since July 4.

Video monitoring was the means by which Cantrell was apprehended for the murder of Butler on September 9th, as stated in the lawsuit. It was at that time that he reportedly “confessed to police that he had also killed Jared and provided specific, graphic details as to how the murder was conducted and the means of disposing of Jared’s body,” as stated in the complaint of the plaintiff.

He allegedly informed the police that he murdered Jared “by placing a bag over his head and strangling him with a rope,” and then he allegedly put his corpse in a Rubbermaid bucket, carried it outdoors, and then placed his remains in a municipal trash can, where they were never seen again. This is according to the lawsuit.

Cantrell, according to Jared’s family, was “no doubt emboldened by his successful murder of Jared” when he murdered Deshea, who they allege was similarly killed by strangulation before his corpse was left nearby. Jared’s family claims that Cantrell was responsible for Deshea’s loss.

In addition, according to the lawsuit, Cantrell said to the authorities that he had murdered Jared and Deshea because his other personality, Robert Baldwin, had given him the order to do so. After that, he reportedly said that he “had cut off one of Jared’s ears, and both of Deshea’s, and ate them’so he could gain their power,'” and then proceeded to collect Deshea’s blood in a coffee cup, which he then drank out of “over the course of several days.”

Sadly, every single one of these things might have been avoided,” the complaint adds. “Cantrell — who had every telltale sign of a budding serial killer — never should have been placed in a home with vulnerable adults.”

“Upon information and belief, SCDMH failed to take any appropriate steps to treat Cantrell or to otherwise prevent the obvious danger that he posed to the public and to those living in close proximity to him,” according to the complaint.

A lawyer who represents New Hope said that his clients had expressed their concerns to law police as well as to the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. “It appears, unfortunately, that some of the appropriate professionals failed to do their end of the job and I think in a way it facilitated the actions that occurred,” according to their statement.
