Authorities have officially verified that Megan Trussell, a college student who had been reported missing, was discovered passed in a rural region outside of Boulder, Colorado, last week. This discovery came several days after she was last seen alive in her dormitory.
On February 18, the Bolder County Coroner’s Office issued a short statement confirming that Trussell’s remains had been positively identified. The message was made public on Tuesday. It had been three days since she had been seen.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office has said in their own update that they will be conducting an investigation, and that the conclusion of the ultimate cause of loss is still awaiting the determination of the coroner.
According to the sheriff’s office, however, “based on our joint investigation thus far, we do not believe that there is or was a threat to the community.” There was no threat to the community.
According to the authorities at the University of Colorado Boulder, Trussell, who is 18 years old, was reported missing for the first time on Wednesday, February 12, and she was last seen in her residence hall on February 9.
On Saturday, February 15, the school police and the sheriff’s office said that a corpse that matched her description had been discovered in “hard-to-reach terrain” outside of the city, which “required a technical evacuation including the need to rappel.”
A memorial service was held on Monday, February 17, in the vicinity of the location where her corpse was discovered. Her parents and other loved ones were there.
According to a story from The Denver Post, Joe Trussell, the father of the child, said that the outpouring of love and support has been simply incredible. “You have no idea how much we value and appreciate you.”
He remarked, “It is a terrible thing that has happened, but the best way we can honor her is to get better, to find out what happened.” He was referring to the actual event that had occurred.
According to her family, Megan, a freshman, had a passion for movies and had always dreamt of becoming a filmmaker, as reported by the Post.
During the ceremony that took place on Monday, the cousin Rebecca Perez shared her thoughts by saying, “We just sit around the table and talk about Megan and the memories we have of her.” “There will be brief moments of tears, but more often than not, we will just talk about how hilarious she was.”
More than $45,000 has been contributed to a GoFundMe campaign that was first established to assist in the hunt for Megan and is now being used to collect money in her honor and to provide financial assistance to her family.
The leaders of the institution expressed their sorrow about Megan’s passing in a prior communication to the school community.
Chancellor Justin Schwartz and D’Andra Mull, a vice chancellor, made the following statement: “We understand that this news is devastating to members of our campus community, and we also understand that you may have many more questions about the details of the announcement made by the sheriff’s office.”
A member of our community has passed away, and this has an effect on our campus. They went on to say, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and members of the community of those who have passed away.”
When it comes to providing support to people of the community as they go through the grieving process, we also have support services accessible in the following days, weeks, and months. Please make sure that you and each other are well taken care of.
