After losing their house in a wildfire, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are going after municipal authorities in Los Angeles, claiming that some of the choices they made were questionable and are the reason for their loss.
The stars of the reality television show are taking legal action against the city of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. They are suing them for the damage that their property in Pacific Palisades sustained during the Palisades Fire.
Spencer and Heidi claim that the city and DWP have failed in several areas, including infrastructure and water management, according to the complaint that was acquired by TMZ.
When the Palisades Fire started, Spencer and Heidi said that a nearby reservoir was dry and had not been in operation for months. This limited the amount of water that was available to fire hydrants and tankers in the Palisades, where firefighters said they ran out of water while attempting to battle the fire.
The couple claims that the Department of Water and Power was attempting to save expenses by depleting the reservoir and soliciting bids for repairs. They also assert that this ultimately resulted in significant financial losses for residents when a fire swept through the town.
Spencer and Heidi are also accusing L.A. and DWP for a water system design that doesn’t work. They argue that the infrastructure could not successfully combat wildfires, and they allege that municipal officials confirmed this after the flames.
