Just a few days before Christmas, a cheerleader from California who was 17 years old was stabbed to loss, and the police have said that they have arrested a “acquaintance” in connection with the murder.
On Friday, December 20, at around ten o’clock in the evening, officers from the Azusa Police Department responded to a complaint concerning an attack with a dangerous weapon that occurred on the 300 Block of North Soldano Avenue, according to a release issued by the department.
A adolescent girl who had been stabbed was discovered by the cops who arrived on the scene. Her body was taken to a nearby hospital, where it was determined that she had passed away.
According to reports from ABC 7, CBS News, and NBC 4, her relatives said that she was identified as Angelina Gonzales of Azusa.
They are in utter disbelief.
“No parent should bury their child,” her stepfather, Robert Caraballo, is quoted as saying by CBS News after the funeral.
According to Caraballo, who spoke with NBC 4 Los Angeles, her family realized that something was awry when they were unable to locate her.
Her phone rang at the residence of a person he knew, and as a result, her father went to the residence to hunt for her.
“There was already crime scene tape up and forensics and all kinds of stuff,” Caraballo said in an interview with ABC 7 when he arrived at the situation. I then raced up to the cops and said, “Hey, my daughter is in there,” and they responded. There is my daughter present, if you must know. Currently, I am looking for her. This is not her home.’
“And at that moment, they told me, ‘Sit behind me for a moment,'” he said in an interview with ABC 7.
His wife, Angelina’s mother, and he were instructed by law enforcement to report to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, he said in an interview with NBC 4 Los Angeles.
“When we arrived, they took my wife in to ask her some questions, and basically that’s when they told us that she didn’t make it and what happened to her,” he said in an interview with NBC 4 Los Angeles.
An individual who has only been named as an 18-year-old guy and a “acquaintance” of Angelina’s was taken into custody by the police on Saturday, December 21. The department said in an updated announcement that the suspect was located close to the residence where the stabbing occurred.

Leticia Pimentel Caraballo, Angelina’s mother, stated in part of a GoFundMe page that was established to gather money for Angelina’s burial, “She had a heart of gold.” She was my angel baby, and she was just beautiful. I am at a loss for words; I just do not speak. I am unable to even deal with it. I am dependent on her. Our family is inutterly heartbroken. Because of all the love and support, we are grateful. I am grateful to everyone of you.
Angelina Kennedy was scheduled to turn 18 on January 7th, according to the GoFundMe page.
ABC 7 reported that the family is organizing a car wash and bake sale on Saturday at the VFW in Azusa from nine in the morning until three in the afternoon in order to raise more funds.
