This is the period in which Donna Kelce is prospering!

An exclusive interview with PEOPLE was conducted on the set of the Thrive@50+ campaign that was being developed by GSK in advance of its premiere. During the conversation, the famous football mom shared the reasons why she is enjoying this present phase of her life more than she ever has before.

Donna Kelce has been in the public eye ever since her sons Jason and Travis Kelce competed against each other in Super Bowl LVII. She has been the subject of several interview appearances, chances to form partnerships, and even an impending role in a film.

The 71-year-old Donna tells People that “everyone knows everything there is to know about our family.” “What they’re doing and who they’re dating and this and that,” she continues, making a veiled reference to Travis’ relationship with one of the most famous pop artists in the world.

“It’s just fun being free like that and not having to keep secrets,” Donna says in between takes with Brooke Shields and Gina Torres during their campaign shooting in Brooklyn, New York. “It’s just fun being free like that.” “I am having the time of my life now, more than ever.”

Donna reveals that she is no longer under the time stress that she was under while her sons were growing up, when she had to make sure that they had breakfast and that their clothing were clean. This is despite the fact that she has additional obligations and tasks to cater to that come with living in the public light.

For the purpose of the Thrive@50+ campaign, Donna and the other women working on set presented each other with friendship bracelets that had phrases that were essential to them. She picked the word “persistence,” which she claims was essential in making her sons’ dreams of playing in the NFL come true.

Simply put, they did not stop. “They were the water boys, they did odd jobs, they stayed there and just kept at it and kept practicing and practicing,” Donna adds of Travis and Jason, who went on to have successful careers with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, respectively, going on to win Super Bowls.

Nevertheless, Donna continues to support her adult children in their ambitions in the National Football game (NFL), as Travis is attempting to win a third straight championship with the Chiefs and Jason is beginning his new position as an analyst on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown, after spending thirteen years actively participating in the game.

Donna tells Jason, “I’m going to support him in that effort as well,” and she goes on to explain, “Especially when he’s in Kansas City because then I’ll be able to support him.”

Despite the fact that this may need her to go from game to game, Donna is certain that she will also prioritize herself. “It’s an important part of my life right now to do the things that I want to do and focus on myself,” she explains to me. “I know it sounds selfish, but you have to do that because health is so important.”

According to her, this is the reason why an alliance with GSK’s Thrive@50+ made perfect sense. The initiative recognizes and honors those who are fifty years of age or older, and it encourages them to educate themselves on the dangers of probable health problems such as shingles.

When it comes to their health, Donna believes that “everybody” should take responsibility for it, regardless of their age. “That’s the most important thing you can do.”
