The relationship between Jane Villanueva and Rafael Solano is more than simply a game on TV; in real life, they are more like family.

As the tenth anniversary of the debut of the CW series Jane the Virgin approaches (the series first aired on October 13, 2014), Gina Rodriguez has revealed to PEOPLE that she and her former fictitious baby daddy are as close as they have ever been.

“Justin has a soul that is pure and sincere. In her praise of Justin Baldoni, who portrayed the role of Rafael to her Jane, she exclaims, “Man, he’s a sweetie pie.” I will always consider that individual to be my brother. For all time and no end.”

Among the cast of Jane, Rodriguez, who is 40 years old, claims that Baldoni, who is also 40 years old, is “the person I stay in touch with the most, for sure.” This is despite the fact that they all communicate with one other rather regularly.

“I talk to Yael [Groblas] and Brett [Dier] a lot also.” As she continues, she makes a reference to the actress who portrayed Petra, her adversary who later became her confidant, as well as the actor who played Michael, her character’s first love. “But Justin is just my brother.”

According to the actress, who is now co-hosting an all-new game show on ABC called Lucky 13, along with Shaquille O’Neal, she feels “old” when she looks back to the launch of Jane the Virgin.

“I have an old feeling. In my mind, it is the very first thing that springs to mind. “The second thing that comes to mind is that I are interested in organizing a reunion,” she confesses. I totally liked that experience so much, and those individuals, and that concert was so fantastic. Everything about it was so awesome. The show was nothing like the others. That performance was really one of a kind.

She continues by saying, “Every moment was perfect,” referring to the show for which she was awarded a Golden Globe in the year 2015. “Even in the trials, even in the challenges, even when we were working 16 hours a day, even when it was absolutely sucking me dry of energy and vitality, and I would miss birthday celebrations and Christmases and holidays with family, and I would miss everything… The only thing I did was make sure that I understood the reasons why I was missing all of those things, and I did.

The five-year anniversary of the show’s 2019 end was celebrated by both Rodriguez and Baldoni last month. Baldoni wrote on Instagram that he “can’t believe it’s been five years,” and Rodriguez subsequently reposted his post on her Stories, saying, “I miss this life.” Both of these statements were made in anticipation of the show’s conclusion.

The caption added, “I’m still blown away by all the love and support we continue to receive,” which was written by Baldoni. Hearing how much this program has meant to so many people is something that never fails to make me happy. I would want to express my gratitude to everyone that includes our program in their life. And to my whole television family, who will always be my family, I want to say that I love you all.

Dier, who portrayed Jane’s father Rogelio, posted a response in the comments area, writing “Love you Justin” in all capital letters and accompanied it with a series of rose emojis. Jaime Camil, who played Rogelio, reacted with “❤️❤️.”
