The name Kobe Bryant is one that will not disappear from the annals of basketball history any time soon. Kobe Bryant was a skilled athlete who made his imprint on the sport he excelled in. To this day, a large number of fans continue to look up to him as a role model. After being caught up in a terrible helicopter accident early on in his career, the basketball star was unable to recover from his injuries and passed away.

On the day of his death, the NBA great was traveling aboard a plane with eight other people, one of which was his daughter Gianna Bryant, who was 13 years old. Around ten in the morning, the helicopter they were riding in crashed on the ground close to Calabasas, which is located about 30 miles north of the center of Los Angeles. Even though rescue teams were on the site within minutes, it was already too late for anybody to be saved.

The fatal accident claimed the lives of everyone on board the helicopter, including the pilot. Bryant was one of the passengers. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department sent a message on Twitter on the tragedy, stating that “Five people confirmed deceased, no survivors in #Calabasas helicopter crash.” Deputies from the #LASD #Malibu station have remained with workers from the #LA County Fire Department. The investigation is still going on. Stay away from the area until you get additional instructions.

How Vanessa Bryant Decided to Celebrate the Life of Her Deceased Husband

After the passing of both her husband and her daughter, Vanessa Bryant was left in charge of their surviving children. The family grieved the death of their father and honored his memory in a variety of different ways when he passed away. In August of 2023, three years after he passed away, Vanessa made the decision to do something memorable to commemorate what would have been the NBA superstar’s 45th birthday.

In memory of her late spouse, Vanessa contacted the shoe store Nike with the idea of creating a sneaker that would be worthy of the basketball legend’s name in collaboration with the company. Nike agreed, and not long after that, the company made public the news that they were releasing a new line of footwear. They have given it the moniker “Halo” Nike Kobe 8 Protro sneaker.

Vanessa conceived up and executed the design for the sneaker on her own, and Nike just announced that they would be launching their newest product on August 23. It seemed as if everything was going swimmingly. Although the shoe was in the process of being conceived and was on its way to being produced, neither Nike nor Vanessa were able to foresee how the general public would react when they heard about the new line of shoes.

Even though Vanessa definitely believed that releasing a new shoe would be an appropriate approach to commemorate the life of an athlete, a significant number of people on social media perceived the whole thing as a heartless attempt to make money. They took their criticism of Vanessa’s new shoes on the internet, where it was disseminated to a far wider audience than it would have been otherwise.

One person posed the following question: “Is she still using his name to make money?” Why not give them her name since she was the one who developed them? Others thought the same way and said, “She is still trying to get money.” That woman is repulsive. Even her mother was forced to leave the home because of her behavior. Kobe gave it to her as a gift,” Both phrases mean the same thing: “She’s cashing out,” and “It’s all about the money.”

In spite of all the animosity, Vanessa and her three kids, Natalia, Bianka, and Capri, continue to honor their late father Kobe by holding a memorial for him every year. Even after Vanessa’s husband passed away, she continues to post pictures of him on her Instagram account. She even sent her daughter a bouquet of flowers on the first day of school, along with a letter that said, “Happy first day of school! Always and forever, I love you, Daddy.”
