Steph Curry, a household name in the United States, is set to provide his support to Kamala Harris in the form of an endorsement.
TMZ has been informed by officials from the Democratic National Committee that the NBA player, who just led the United States of America to a gold medal in basketball at the Paris Olympics, is going to back Harris for president via a surprise video message that will be shown on Thursday at the Democratic National Convention.
Curry has a few connections to Harris; for example, they spent time together this summer while Team USA was in Las Vegas getting ready for the Olympics. Additionally, Steph Curry has spent his entire NBA career playing for the Golden State Warriors, which is the home team for the San Francisco Bay Area and Oakland, which is where Kamala was born and where she served as District Attorney.
Previous to this, Steve Kerr, Steph’s NBA coach, delivered a speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week. In that address, he made a reference to his star player’s hallmark celebration as a means to poke fun at Donald Trump.
Kerr, who was the head coach of this year’s Olympic team and guided Curry to four NBA titles with the Warriors, gushed over Kamala and her running companion, Tim Walz, for the most of his nearly ten-minute address. He then concluded his remarks by taking a swipe at Trump.
“We can tell Donald Trump, ‘Night, night!'” Kerr stated immediately before he placed his hands in the form of a pillow. “In the words of the great Steph Curry,” he said with his hands.
