Following the conclusion of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Tom Cruise executed a remarkable stunt in order to get the world excited about the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
As part of the closing ceremony for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, which took place on Sunday, Tom Cruise went into full Mission: Impossible gear. He made a unique appearance that was loaded with stunts, and it was a symbolic handoff of the responsibility of the Olympic games to Los Angeles, which will host the games in 2028.
The world was blown away when Tom Cruise, who is 62 years old and is well-known for doing his own stunts in his films, repelled from the top of the Stade de France and slid down through the air on safety lines before landing on the stadium stage.
As Cruise made his way across the stage to the rocking guitar of H.E.R., who had also performed the National Anthem only a few moments earlier, he was hailed by athletes and cheered on by spectators.
By the time Cruise arrived on stage, she had already met and shaken hands with the Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, as well as the gold medalist, Simone Biles.
After then, Cruise was presented with the Olympic flag, and he hurried out to a motorbike that was waiting for him. Once he arrived, he affixed the flag to the motorcycle, and then he rode out of the stadium.
From there, Cruise drove through the streets of Pairs; more specifically, he did so in a section that was pre-recorded, which also had the actor boarding an aircraft and flying the flag to Los Angeles.
After arriving at the City of Angels, Tom Cruise stepped out of the jet and flew into the skies of Los Angeles. He then flew by the Hollywood sign, which had been altered to transform the two “O”s in “wood” into two of the five Olympic rings.
The incredible stunts that Tom Cruise has performed for a number of his action films have earned him a long-standing reputation. Many of these feats have never been accomplished or tried before.
While Cruise was in Rome in June 2023 to promote Mission: Impossible – D.ead Reckoning Part One, he gave an interview to Entertainment Tonight. In the interview, he said that the most risky stunt of his career, which was a motorbike leap out of a cliff into a base jump, was the very first sequence that was ever recorded for the action movie.
When asked about the planning of the de.ath-defying stunt, Cruise said with a grin, “Well, we know either we’re going to continue with the film or we’re not.” To begin, let’s be aware of… Do we all proceed, or is this going to be a significant rewrite?
In all seriousness, the actor said, it was all about focusing on what was important. For years, preparations were made. For example, I have been riding motorbikes ever since I was a little child, I have competed in auto races, and I have spent a significant amount of time only with aerobatics, aircraft, helicopters, and parachutes… “It was kind of like everything culminated at that point,” he stated.
“You have to be razor sharp when you do something like that, so it was very important as we were prepping the film that that actually was the first thing [to shoot], because I don’t want to drop that and go shoot other things and then have my mind somewhere else,” he proceeded to explain. “Everyone was prepped, let’s just get it done.”
